This review is from: 1940s Omnibus (The Agatha Christie Years) (Paperback)
This is a great collection of four Agatha Christie novels from the 1940's. Although the Miss marple and Hercule Poirot mysteries are wonderful, they're beginning to become a little familiar, so its great to see these new collections of Agatha Christie stand-alone novels. I've read three of them so far(1920's, 1940's and 1950's)and this is my favourite. The Crooked House and Towards zero mysteries are well crafted and keep you guessing the identity of the killer until the very end. However the star of the collection is Sparkling cyanide. I just love everything about it, particularly the way you get to learn about the murder almost in flashback, and there lots of plot twists! N or M is a Tommy and Tuppence spy story dealing with fifth columnists. I tend to find these espionage thrillers the least satisfying of Agatha Christies work. However, in this case the mystery is pretty good, and the fact it was written during the war when fifth columnists were a real threat makes it more interesting from an histirical point of view. Overall this is a great set of mysteries and really good value for money!

I chose this rating because it is a good product. There is nothing I didn't like about it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes murder mysteries, and who doesn't mind the fact that it was written in a setting in which there were no mobile phones or computers.
