A must have for any scalextric fan, either collector, slotracer or anybody having memories of playing with scalextric.
Written with a lot of humour makes it pleasant to read, almost like a historical roman. The author places everything in its historical context : explaining the importance of the real cars in racing and historical events taking place at the same time we all have recollections, but forgot the dates.
Everything is very well illustrated with large detailed color pictures of cars (scalextric and their real examples)and catalogues, and not the least a very good index making this book a good reference work for the collector . A bound book printed on best quality paper meant to be read again and again.
Together with the book from Roger Gillham it is a must have in anybody's library. I only regret they are not exactly the same size..

The Photography of Scalextric Models in this book is amazing, with loads of close up shots of the cars. The book's narrative is also strong, with an interesting look at the Vintage Scalextric models. Even the end papers are interesting, showing a useful selection of layouts that can be constructed with Scalextric track.
A list of models produced is also included.
This book is on a par with previous Scalextric books by a certain other, more well known author, and I was pleased that instead of duplication this book throws extra light on the subject. Now let's see who can come up with a third book also titled Scalextric !
