We like Paddington. But this won't get as many rereads as some of the others
on 7 June 2014
I was a little disappointed with this entry unfortunately. My son loves Paddington, and seemed to enjoy this, but I must say I don't really enjoy reading it very much.
The illustrations are wonderful as always. But I missed the Brown family as Paddington goes to a carnival with Mr Gruber. We've not read many of the books, so didn't know this character. And he calls Paddington 'Mr Brown', which I changed for my son to make sense for him.
I was looking forward to showing my son the carnival, but almost all the book was taken up with a hunt for things starting with a 'B', which is just above our knowledge level. And a boy makes an appearance on every page, copying Paddington's answers to the 'B' hunt, then disappears at the end when he is 'outed' as a cheat. Where did he go?
Seemed quite long, not as fun as the Zoo episode which we tried recently, and I'm not keen to reread.
But we will continue to read and try Paddington.
