5.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good pocket dictionary, 2 Jan 2003

This review is from: Collins Pocket - Collins Spurrell Pocket Welsh Dictionary (Paperback)
In general, the organization of the dictionary, is somewhat lacking on the grounds of the "refer to" approach it follows, which come in your way, when you are trying to read.
On the positive side
- The mutation and names tables in the beginning of the dictionary are most helpful.
- The Walsh dictionary is careful to provide, the various meaning for a word, thus enabling to find the most accurate translation to English.
On the negative side
- The dictionary don't mention many common words, for example, "aeth" might mean "go, walk" in the narrative form, or in Walsh-English part of the dictionary "penwythons" is wanted, though the English-Walsh has "weekend", the same goes for "mynd" ("come, go").
- A numbers table is also wanted.
I would recommend the dictionary for beginners, as it comes out as good bargain and I would strongly recommend it to students, but the serious minded scholar would do better elsewhere.
