Simply put, if you liked the first album Never Mind The Hotpots then you will love this one equally: An upbeat offering, crammed full of Lancashire folk, wit and humour - all light-hearted fun and the added bonus of some catchy anthems along the way which you'll be singing in the car or office day in, day out. Much recommended are "I Fear Ikea" (to the tune of Wild Rover which is an instant comic classic) "The Beer Olympics" and my personal favourite, "The Girl From Bargain Booze", which chronicles Bernard Thresher's flirtation with the lady from the local off-licence.

The whole album is a superb comedy success - every bit as good as in concert!

The Lancashire Hotpots have stuck to the same formula that made Never Mind The Hotpots so unique and a mini-hit.

Topic of song writing include Ikea, Youtube, global warming, computer shortcuts for getting rid of "European videos", Chavs, beer in the Olympics and adultary in Bargain Booze. Not quite sure where the inspiration for the last one comes from, but either way it rounds off the album quite nicely.

Again, the Hotpots have taken old classical song music but twisted the lyrics so the songs become relative about topics and situations that relate to the average person. At least in Lancashire anyway. Imagine them as the musical version of Peter Kay. They can take a ordinary routine scenario in a working class lifestyle and make it funny, only they don't repeat their jokes until they become tired.

Comical and updated for a 2008 audience, this is another cracking CD for anyone who likes to listen to unique, local music.

Pots Of Fun 23 Feb 2009

Fantastic album full of fun songs - all the lyrics are original whereas most of the tunes appear to have been lifted from other songs. Working out what the backing tunes are is part of the fun, but the real amusment lies in the lyrics, which link to real life so solidly everyone will find that they, not only laugh but also understand every song. As example "I Fear Ikea" will resonate with everyone that has ever visited an Ikea store, and the idea of Michael Palin being lost between kitchen & beds, after exploring the world is amusing and also such a plausible truth that it makes you laugh.
