It was in the air.
After the scorching debacle at US Flushing Meadows, they must have thought: let's do it now or it will be too late, the 'momentum' will soon be gone...and they had already planned to make a splashing landing in China, in occasion of Shanghai Rolex Masters next october, and didn't want to miss that chance!
And the announcement is just out, today...
The Scot doesn't want to waste time amd he wants to make money as David Beckham with billionaire Simon Fuller (of Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez..American Idol...).
They just launched "77'' company, which will manage the affairs of both the Scottish brothers, Andrew and Jamie.
Of course Mum Judy will not be out of the deal...
So, please, can anybody tell me: where is the sacred fire and devotion for the tennis game?
Wow! He said proudly in a statement: "The new company will allow me more freedom and the chance to become more involved in my business affairs".
I am speechless! I am wondering: what's now the role of Mr. Lendl in these strings of business ventures?
The Scot's money empire accountant? And what on earth is the Indian tennis dinosaur, Mr. Bhupathi, doing in this deal?
Promoting tennis academies in emerging economies, selling apparels, organizing tennis shows around the world, selling the Scot's name to new, ingenue Indian brands for lucrative endorsements? C'on, Mahesh! Time to retire!
Money, money, money...

He never wanted to play Davis Cup, because he was more interested in making dollars from his private job..He did never care for representing GB...
Now, all of sudden, the mercenary Scot is miraculously available to play it, sensing an opportunity to repair his reputation after his shambolic foulmouthed defeat in the US Open..
He has started shouted all over the British media that playing Davis Cup 'should be mandatory"....
He knows that he may win, given the overwhelming advantage of his squad over the Croatian one, which cannot count on its better players Cilic and Karlovic...at the moment NOT available!
How long all this will last?
The billionaire Scot won't play again because Davis cup games get in the way of his chance to make mercenary dollars.Ther is no national spirit in him whatsoever..It is only for the blind media and the pictures which today are spread all over UK can show it...

sunder says:
Well, at the end, the British team won over Croatian team... But, despite all media brawl and fuss and overpraised win of Scottish player, UK team is still at very bottom of the elite World Group of Davis Cup and its ranking is now # 18.
Before it was ranking # 30, behind India..
As of 16 September 2013, UK team comes after Czech Rep, Serbia, Spain, Argentina, France, Usa, Canada, Kazakhstan, Italy, Australia, Germany, Japan, Croatia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium...
There is still a very long way to go...
