Master D says:
According to promotion from SONY "only the best selling games will be (re-)released in the platinum series". So what you usually get, when u buy a "platinum" game, is the very same disc, with a slightly redesigned label, but the same content, in an ugly cover. And there's nothing strange about them being cheaper ... the platinum series games will be released months after their original's release date, making them budget titles from the start.

However there's ONE exception to this rule to my knowledge so far: the Platinum Edition of "Midnight Club: L.A.", which is also labeled "complete edition", also includes the complete South Central DLC, and is the only disc version that does.
