Wondering the same thing too! I notice Amazon do have a page for it, but only available from other sellers, and then more expensive than the hardback -- what's going on?

N. E. Wood says:
It's already available here in Austria, but so ridiculously expensive that it's cheaper to buy the hardcover and get it posted from England. Can't understand why the bookshop here has loads of paperback copies and yet it's still not available in UK

i work in a bookshop and normally for a book to go from hardback to paperback it can be 6-9 months depending on book/publishers. however we normally have to return all our remaining copies of the hardback before the paperback comes to us for selling and the time between that process is roughly 1 month i guess and as of yet we still have our hardback copies.

i ALWAYS get asked this question at work and explain this each time and say how much I'M wanting it to come out in paperback too so I understand the annoyance it causes

just thought i'd put my two pence in! hope it helps!

I asked at Waterstone the other week and they had a date on the computer for the end of August. I couldn;t wait that long though so I have an odd collection :) Hope this helps.

I was searching on the internet and it is likely that the paperback will be coming out on the same date as the hardcover did, but this year. I read that they normally take 1 year to release them for some bizarre reason..

Ive got the paperback version on pre-order since June 09 ( due for release start Aug) but i went to look my order up and theyve replaced it with a hardback young readers edition, and now i cant trace the paperback one i originally ordered. Has this happened to anyone else and how can i contact Amazon to see which one im going to be getting?

i contacted amazon today who confirmed it woud be a hardback and dispatching in a couple of days...if you still want paperback then cancel and wait :(

The same thing happened to me, so I emailed to find out what was happening and was told that there had been a mistake in the listing and that I would receive a hardback copy. I'd rather have the paperback so I cancelled the order and I'm now waiting to see when they will get the paperback edition in.

I went into a book shop who researched finding it for me. They told me it had briefly been released as paperback in May 09 but was swiftly reprinted again in hardback so is not available anywhere anymore.

On play.com it says "Due for release on 20/07/2010" until then I will keep taking it out of the library when I want to read it, I have a thing about having a matching set.

There's officially no date for Breaking Dawn in paperback - likely to be summer 2010
Airports are allowed to sell export editions e.g larger format paperbacks which are not legal in UK mainland.
There has never been a paperback release in the UK -their was a mistake in the national books database in May 2009 which listed a paperback and hence it appeared on Amazon - but it never existed

I don't understand wy there's such a big gap between the release of the hardback the paperback? I know some books wait up to a year, but the summer of 2010 is two!

Oh well, I guess until they bring it out I'll continue to read the free e-book version i found... SM isn't getting any more money out of me until I can have a matching set!

Paperback version is avaliable in book shops in Ireland. They seem to stock only paperback not hardback!!

Posted on 27 Apr 2010 13:54:44 BDT
You can pre-order it on Amazon now, but it still doens't say when the release date is and therefroe when you'll get it. I don't get what all the secrecy is about!?
