Product Description

Introducing the revolutionary pBone - over 100,000 sold worldwide

The number of children and adults taking up the trombone in recent years has literally exploded thanks to the introduction of the pBone. The combination of its lightweight ABS construction, durability, fun and affordability has made it a worldwide success. The pBone has been designed and manufactured by trombonists for trombonists and has been universally critically acclaimed and hailed as both a revolution in trombone playing and a milestone in the evolution of the instrument.

Popular in schools as a first instrument due to its durability and lightweight design
Available in a range of exciting colours - some schools get them to match their uniform
Cutting edge design

The ergonomic design means it is comfortable to hold for a variety of hand shapes and sizes. The one-piece bell is extremely strong and the glass fiber slide is a joy to use – the slide on a traditional trombone is usually extremely vulnerable to knocks and dents whereas these issues are now pretty much eradicated.

Great for children and schools

The pBone has been a massive hit with children, schools and other educational establishments. Virtually indestructible, they are incredibly light (less than half the weight of a traditional trombone) yet extremely robust – well able to withstand any rough treatment. This makes them ideal for learning within the school environment. Many schools buy a mix of colours and then customise their pBones to school colours.

Perfect for adult beginners

The pBone is fun to learn and great looking - coming in a huge range of colours. It is a great choice for someone wanting to start learning a musical instrument and have a bit of fun. It is also perfect for adults who used to play in their younger days and want to revisit their playing days but without having to splash out on an expensive trombone.

Great as your second trombone

The pBone is proving to be fantastic second instrument for many professional level trombonists – as is it perfect for outdoor gigs. Many pro players are choosing to leave their pride and joy professional trombone within the safety of its case at home in favour the fun-looking, robust pBone. The perfect companion for Jazz Festivals, pub gigs or playing Christmas Carols – it also removes the worry of damaging your pro instrument during or after a gig.

Great for pro musicians wanting a bit of fun or the 'wow' factor

I have been playing the trombone for 66 years starting at the age of 6.
My principal trombone is a Conn 88H arguably the best trombone on the market and so I purchased the P-bone just as a bit of fun.
However from the very first note I was astounded at the quality of sound produced and the ease at which air could pass through it and the flexibility of note anotation.
OK so it lacks the absolute brilliance of sound of the 88H but then you can purchase 20 p-bones for the price of a single 88H.
I am the Bandmaster of 3 Brass groups and would recommend the p-bone as an ideal instrument for anyone learning to play a brass instrument. Frank Bedford

We love this. We didn't expect a plastic musical instrument to be even half as good as the real (brass) thing.
However, it's great. Particularly good for beginners, and produces a good tone. For the price, it's a very good deal.

This trombone is a fantastic instrument with a great sound. I have been a trombonist for 52 years and am very impressed with the sound - if the listener has their eyes closed when it is being played they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and a normal trombone. Only one downfall - the slide tends to be somewhat noisy but this doesn't detract from the great sound. Thoroughly recommend for any trombonist who wants a bit more 'colour' in their playing. Three of the players in our Brass Band have purchased one and they will be featuring in future concerts.

I bought a Jiggs PBone for my husband as he was thinking of getting back into playing after a 5 year break. He had sold his brass trombone and didn't want to spend a good thousand pound or two on a new one while he decided whether he really had the time. The price of the PBone is a real bonus, no it's not a brass trombone it never well be but it does play well and the bottom register in particular sounds good if a bit thin the top register is not quite so good but it is more than adequate. Currently the slide is a little sticky but the PBone website does mention this may be an issue in the first instance. From a portability point of view it is amazing and not only good for children but I am sure there will be many at outside gigs and even a few at Jazz festivals. There lightness means even the smallest child can play and also allows those with limited arm strength a brass option.

Despite its issues I have to give a give star review. The PBone is the biggest leap forward in affordability of instruments that has been seen in a long time and while it will never take over from beautifully crafted brass instruments it does make the trombone a viable instrument for children, learners, those with disabilities and experienced players who don't have a lot of money to spend.

A truly wonderful innovation from Jiggs/Warwick Music.

I've been playing the trombone for over twenty years, I've recently joined a Gugge band which plays lots of carnivals, festivals and outdoor gigs during which frequent trips to the pub are made. I didn't want to leave my precious bone outside a pub so I bought a pbone, it's great. Plays just like a normal trombone but only weighs 1kgish, my 4 year old son can play it without help holding it. It's really well balanced, and after a while you don't even notice you're playing a plastic trombone. If you gig outdoors, have a young child who wants to play or are a learner yourself I'd advise you get one if these. You'll never join the Vienna phil, but you'll have a great laugh and not have to worry about dents. Possibly most important of all you can enjoy your beer while the rest of the band are looking over their shoulders to check on their instruments.

I bought the pbone as a bit of fun for my husband for Christmas (he is a semi-prof bass trpmbonist). He absolutely loved it!! It is unbelievably lightweight and remarkably for a bit of plastic tubing, makes a really good sound! it has been left out all Christmas and everyone has had a go playing it, even our son and daughter.
Great fun and very inexpensive tho not sure he has the bottle to turn up to any of his gigs with it!!

What a fantastic product. When I decided to take up the trombone, I was a little put off at the thought of having to invest in a serious brass instrument, especially as I had no experience. Luckily, the pBone had just been launched, to universally positive reviews - no-one had anything negative to say about it. Here was an affordable, great looking instrument which was purpose made to get people like myself into playing the trombone - which it has done. Of course, once the novelty value wears off, it comes down to hard practice, and it takes time and patience to develop a pleasant tone and good technique (like any wind instrument I imagine). But the fact that the pBone can be left out means I pick it up far more often than if it was in a case, and gradually, improvements can be heard.

I also recommend the New Tune a Day book to get started. Has a CD and DVD - very useful.
