Synopsis
Chicago's County General opens its doors for more highly-charged drama, in series eleven of the Emmy Award-winning show.

DVD Description
An aquarium worker with a live shark latched onto him... a blind woman and her guide companion (a miniature horse!)... a college boy with an arrow in his gut (his fraternity brothers were aiming for the apple on his head). Gunshot victims. Homeless children. Cardiac cases. So many patients, so little time.

Year 11 of the fast-paced series brings challenges and changes to the ER. Corday and Chen weigh work and family. Abby finds that being a good doctor is as tough as being a good nurse. Ray Barnett - doctor by day, rock star by night - arrives. Carter decides to leave. He`s been there from the start, a student turned leader who picked up where Greene left off. He set the tone, provided the example. His impact will endure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Thier Best Work, 2 Mar 2009
By Paladin Eagle "Paladin Eagle" (Sherwood Forest, England) - See all my reviews
This review contains Episode Spoilers ***PLEASE BE AWARE***

I Really like E.R. as a series and the changing dynamic season on season by the introduction of new characters and the leaving of established ones. Season 11 however has to be the most disappointing so far and i just don't know why.

The series has some great moments but i found myself watching all 22 episodes and not feeling excited or eager to see season 12. It seemed at times that there were just using the same plot devices for different episodes and the writing at times seemed almost pedestrian, for example in one episode Abby has an arguement with Doctor Lewis and heads outside to have a cigeratte where she is kidnapped out of the ambulance bay to work on a gangster who has been shot, during the whole episode the ER staff assume she is in a huff and no one is looking for her even when she fails to respond to a pager, at the end of the episode she is simply dropped off o/s the emergency room and the episode ends, the next episode is days later and begins with Abby returning to work. What about the staffs reaction to abby being kidnapped etc and this is a problem that occurs throughout the season with many scenes (especially surgery) being referred to but never observed even though it is a pivotal moment of the plot.

there are other episodes that i was excited to see when i read the short synopsis on the cover but i was ultimately left a little disappointed when i had seen them. Whilst i would recommend this to anyone who has watched the previous 10 episodes i would suggest you lower you expectations and if you've never seen the show then please, please don't write it off and start with season 1

4.0 out of 5 stars More of the same, 27 Jun 2009

(REAL NAME)
I doubt many people are going to buy this unless they're already into ER. Which is good, as it's not the most gripping series, and not the best introduction. If you're new to ER, start at the beginning! But if you're a fan, like me, then you'll want to own it and will find it's quite watchable. A bit of a transition. Thank goodness it gets back to the usual standard in series 12. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars The show must go on, 16 May 2009
Some would say this was a transitional season for the show and at some level i would agree although the vast amount of episodes are just as gripping as they ever were and sets up season 12 rather well.

Noah Wyle is on fine form as the main lead once more although the season revolves around pushing some of the supporting cast to take on prominent storylines that become the forefront of this and the future seasons to come.

All in all this is a must for any ER fan and would highly recommend it.
