Having been brought up on a diet of 80s teen films (Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, Dirty Dancing, Teen Wolf, Karate Kid etc etc) this spoof is pretty much spot on. Fortunately, unlike many spoofs, I didn't feel the joke dragged on. The actors are so dead pan in their delivery of cheesey lines and stereotyped characters that I just enjoyed each ridiculous scene and even let the odd lame gag pass by (the Mr Miyagi spoof is called Mr Omygoshi, hmmmm). Having said that, if you aren't familiar with the usual content and style of 80s high school films then you'd probably think this awful. I suspect I enjoyed it partly because I remember taking the plotlines, characters and emotional drama that Totally Awesome ridicules so seriously when these films came out. Oh dear.
