i came across gay against you seeing joe's solo project germlin (thats the shorter, spectacled half of gay against you) supporting afri rampo. the audience participation part of the show intimidated me a little, but the furious beats, midi synths and humour made it worthwhile.. i came home to download gay unicorn by gay against you, and after that i was in love.
gay unicorn doesnt appear here, but that goes largely unnoticed. quality pop tunes such as dear dairy, teleRAD and tenth anniversary book more than make up for it, as do more mental moments such as sniff a crow and el presidente have very nice pens. the vocals are low in the mix, but they have kindly provided a lyric booklet so you can discover that triple schipol is actually about the nicest airport in the world (not apples as i initially thought), strawberry blueberry is about the joys of supporting lightning bolt, and still be confused as to what they are saying in super copain...
at only 30 minutes long, this album makes you smile, but doesnt give you a sore face. it is exciting, funny and brilliant, and it doesnt make any sense whatsoever in my head. thoroughly reccomended
