DVD Description
Two opposing armies race to unearth devastating weapons–as the world moves closer to an all-out war! For 200 years they lay deep beneath the Earth, silent on the ocean floor. Now the rival nations of Zafran and Revillia race to gain possession of the Decimators, destructive robots of war. Even though these armaments are from the past, the Decimators have become key components in a bi-lateral military build-up as a political tension between the two lands escalates. Earth itself faces extinction should these ultimate weapons be unleashed!

Based on the hit 35 episode Japanese television series Orguss, acclaimed anime director Fumihiko Takayama brings the story 200 years into the future. Orguss 02 features six pulse-pounding thirty-minute episodes of dramatic mecha combat, giant robots and political intrigue intertwined with explosive sci-fi combat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy, buy, buy!!!!!!!!, 9 Jun 2005
This is the best Manga I have seen so far. It's set in a time where old and new weaponry combine. Two sides are at war using Decimators (machines that walk and fly using a human as the pilot. Think patlabor!). You follow a young mechanic who's ability to fly these decimators are spotted by a captain in the decimator army. I'd rather not say anymore as it would spoil the plot.

It lasts over 2 hours which means it's amazing value for money
The animation is very recent which makes it more realistic, the storyline is excellent and you won't want to stop watching.

It has everything, action, adventure, romance and plot twists. The certificate is justified as there is bloodshed throughout. Even though the extras on the dvd are rubbish, the film more than makes up for it!!!I recommend this to any manga fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars When worlds collide., 11 Sep 2008

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)

When a bomb goes off and causes dimensions to bleed into each other, a future warring Earth finds that people and objects are left in the wrong dimension - objects which include `Decimators' (giant flying robots).

This 6 part series gives us well developed characters which sometimes seem a bit formulaic, but they thankfully tend to break free from many of the clichés we see in anime. The concept of the cities at war, and trying to gain control of the other-worldly massive robots to gain an advantage resonates well with the modern `real world'. The series seems touching at times, I don't want to provide a synopsis to give things away so I'll summarise...

In a nutshell: A good self contained mini-series (no need to invest in several more DVDs to see how this concludes), and at three hours you get enough time to become absorbed in the story, and to get a feel for the characters. The animation isn't the smoothest and the colours aren't the brightest - but when you're watching a dystopian future it doesn't really matter.

There's no option to watch individual episodes, so you might find yourself fast-forwarding through to where you have seen it to, there is a scene selection menu though and you can often pick up from there. There's no need to have seen the original "Orguss" series on which this is based to enjoy this - this is very much a standalone story. There are no special features of any interest - but that would probably have required including a second disk. But the story stands up and this is an enjoyable series that should appeal to fans of the anime "mecha" genre. This is isn't brainless action, we get a bit of political intrigue thrown in for good measure - oh and the theme tune is maybe a bit dated, but it's incredibly catchy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inventive Fun, 27 Feb 2007

(REAL NAME)
This series is the kind of thing you only get in Anime. Its so inventive and different from anything your likely to see. An early renaisance society using world war two level technology, giant robots attacking huge bomber aircraft with axes and a lovable rouge of a character with few redeeming qualities are just a few of the interesting things in this drama. Give it a try.
