5.0 out of 5 stars A hideous story, 22 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I have read the hard backed version of this book and it horrified me. To think someone who wasn't even an adolescent had to experience so much pain and misery in their life. This is a magnificent story of tryuph based on David Pelzers life as an adolescent. It will fill your eyes with tears but then let you open them to be thankful that you never had to experience such pain in any point in your life. One bit of advise i will give though is to read the first part (a child called it) first because it will make a lot more sense. With me being the age Dave Pelzer is in this book i have earned a new found respect for my mother and father which i never knew possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars the most emotionally charged book yet, 12 July 2001
By A Customer
The Lost Boy is the gripping sequel to the stunner A Child Called It and part two of the trilogy which took the world by storm. Dave talks of his escape from his alcoholic mother and his quest for a loving family. He has to adjust to the life of a foster child and deal with all the hardships and prejudices that come along with the tag. What makes these books so thrilling is the controversy that surrounds them. Although non-fiction some speculate that Dave exaggerated his experiences.

Exaggerated or not, the book really is worth 5 stars although not for the faint hearted...

5.0 out of 5 stars PARALYZING AND SIMPLY SAD,YET TRIUMPH IN THE END. AMAZING., 7 July 1999
By A Customer
TO ACTUALLY THINK THERE IS SUCH MISERY THAT CHILDREN ENDURE IN THE DARK JUST BREAKS MY HEART. TO SEE THAT DAVID MADE IT THROUGH THAT LIVING HELL BRINGS COMFORT AND REAFFIRMS MY BELIEF THAT CHILDREN ARE TOUGHER THAN ADULTS.
