Product Description

Product Description

Ambushed in the middle of a savage civil war, forcibly removed from their ship, imprisoned and brutalised by their captors, the crew of the USS Enterprise have still greater dangers to face. Subtle biochemical differences in the universe in which they find themselves make long-term survival impossible. They must escape or die. 3.0 out of 5 stars Average, 16 Aug 2004

(REAL NAME)
I have to say i was shocked by how average this book was. I found the story interesting enough but the writing very poor. This author has also made some blatent mistakes about the star trek universe. One such example is in the way he says the Enterprise has photon torpedos which at my last check unless i am missing something it doesn't. The convenience of the cell ship is also shocking. After saying this though it is an interesting insight into Enterprise and i can only wish that there will be more original stories about the crew of the Enterprise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than Daedalus, but not great, 15 Sep 2008
By GJ "jongredic" (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
This is a vast improvement over Daedalus. My main issue of Dave Stern using hyphens in practically every sentence seems to have been addressed.

Also, the actual crew of Enterprise make an appearance in this book, which does a lot for helping the pace along. The characterisations are much better in this book, but still slightly off.

Again, the whole plot of being in a parallel universe left me cold, as it's a sci-fi device that's been overused, especially in recent times.

A good deal does actually happen in this book, but it's all building up towards the predictable ending. Given that this is set smack in the middle of two season two episodes, the story itself has to have no lasting impact, and that takes a lot away from the story.

However, I feel for a story that was nearly 700 pages long in total, it just wasn't worth it.
