Product Description

A new era begins in the annals of Deep Space Nine...As the story begun in Book One continues, the Federation prepares to launch a counterstrike against the Dominion. Searching for a way to prevent another galactic holocaust, Colonel Kira is forced to make a choice between being true to her faith and being true to her loyalties. Meanwhile, as the combined crews of Deep Space Nine and the USS Enterprise struggle to stop a treacherous plot from destroying both the station and the ship, the shocking truth behind a disturbing prophecy and a grisly murder is revealed. Dark secrets, divided allegiances, treachery and, ultimately, hope - AVATAR is Deep Space Nine at its multi-layered best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still superb!, 7 July 2008
By GJ "jongredic" (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
As with my review for Part One, this book still excels at keeping the story alive in a believable way, and not just getting focused on one particular character, even including Bajorn faith/politics as a major plotline. Something which the series successfully dealt with.

There appear to be a couple of misprints and grammatical errors in the book, but I suppose this just could be this edition of the print.

I felt that of all the characters, Jake once again got set aside, but his story opens up a whole possibility for the rest of the series. (I realise I'm over half a decade late with these reviews...)

Again, S.D. Perry *knows* Star Trek, even dropping in a passing reference to Garak's "A Stitch In Time" letter/story. And this is what makes the reading so easy, without believing the author is trying to reinvent the franchise in her own image.

It was a clever move to introduce a Jem'Hadar ambassador, and this gives the whole series a whole new area to explore.

Keep em' coming :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep Space Nine is still alive in this super book., 22 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I was not happy to see the party at the end of DS9. I loved the characters, and it was great to find someone who agreed, and continued the space station story, in a fast moving, highly enjoyable way. Then with the second book, Avatar continued with surprising things happening to familar characters. I really enjoyed the experience, and am sorry this is book two of two. I would buy book 3 right now.
