5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB facsimile of the 1858 edition, 3 Sep 2004
By Michael Lavocah (Norwich, England) - See all my reviews
The hardcover edition from Grange books is a superb digital facsimile of the original 1858 edition in a large format on very good quality paper.

Here is what the flap has to say about this edition - and it's all true:
"In some important ways, the various editions which have appeared since 1858 have never surpassed the original edition. Many experts take the view subsequent editions have failed to match Henry Gray in clarity of expression and that the illustrations in later editions lack the beauty and simplicity of those in the first edition, which were all the work of Henry Vandyke Carter, the most talented medical artist of his day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic detail and breathtaking clarity of illustrations., 12 Dec 1999
By A Customer
Want to memorise all the muscles in the body, what they do, where they attach and how to build them?

Then this book is a must for the serious surgeon, anatomist or dedicated bodybuilder for that matter!

There really is NO anatomy book that surpasses Gray's. It is peerless.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't agree, 5 Sep 2007
Gray's is an interesting historical text with nice diagrams and pictures. It is readable but I doubt that any "serious surgeon" actually uses it more than once in a blue moon. Last's is much better for surgeons.
(Speaking as a "serious surgeon" myself! :) )
It's also massively expensive when compared with Last's
