A tale of love, unflinching compasion and the will to live -- a great read, 15 Nov 2007
This is a great and fascinating story with a lot of depth and inspiring elements. Sometimes in life we lose our loved ones through no fault of ours and we convince ourselves that we could have saved them. Faced with such guilt we loose the will to live, we hover on the plane of `what is the point of it all', life no longer has meaning and we stop living. If we are lucky a ray of light in form of someone who cares about us will strike us and we are pulled back from this abyss and regain the will to live and the zeal for life. This is the situation our Hero - Greek billionaire Kristin Koumantaros finds himself following a fatal avalanche and a helicopter crash in which he lost his beloved brother Andreas as well as losing his sight and the ability to walk.
Riddled with guilt for not saving his brother and best friend Andreas first before saving others, he lost the will to live. He refused therapy, was a very difficult patient to care for and none of the nurses sent to him lasted more than a few weeks. In no time there was no nurse left and the head of the agency -`First Class Rehab' - Elizabeth Hatchet had no choice but to undertake the task herself.
Elizabeth Hatchet, a petit blonde beauty aka beautiful heiress Grace Stile, has no patience for spoilt rich Greek tycoons who wallowed in self pity and she was not afraid to tell Mr. Koumantaros what she thought of him. She was firm and strict with him, would not molly cuddle him and was not afraid to stand up to him and his threats. She let him know that life was a gift and not a right and that he still had that gift.
Finally the ray of light reached Kristin and he wanted to live. He became determined to walk again and to undergo his physical therapy. In time a friendship and companionship developed between them and before they knew it they were falling in love. She felt guilty because she thought he was spoken for, he felt unworthy of her because of his disabilities. They spent an unforgettable passionate evening in one of his homes and everything went horribly wrong when they ran into her ex-lying and cheating husband Nico who had married her for her money.
She went back to London heart broken, and madly in love with a man whose child she may be carrying, afraid of what he will do if he found out. Kristin underwent a very dangerous eye surgery in London just so that he could regain even a partial sight, as he wanted to be the best man he could become to be worthy of her. For in the depths of his soul, he knew that her courage and compassion; her strength and kindness; and her tough love saved him from the brink of the abyss. She deserved the best he could become. It was such an emotional but a worthy ending to a great story. I loved this book on a lot of levels; it is not only a romantic tale but a tale of unflinching compassion, love and the will to survive.

Another wonderful story by Jane Porter.....Power, Passion, Pride!, 4 Mar 2007
To describe this book I would use the adjectives passion, pain, loneliness, despair, wealth, determination and pride. This was truly a story which goes to show one that money can't buy everything.......it can't buy love and it certainly can't buy happiness.
Both of these characters came from extreme wealth and position. Kristian Koumantaros was in a horrible accident and not only in pain due to physical injuries but he had lost use of his legs and eye sight. His disposition was so miserable he went through several nurses and sent them all running. Now the owner of an English nursing firm has come to an isolated location in Greece make sure she gets the job done and helps this angry and desolate man heal.
Elizabeth Hatchet suffered her own pain from a failed marriage, and hiding secrets about her past. She has been hired by a woman she believes to be Kristian's fiancé and if she does not help him to get on his feet, Elizabeth fears she will loose her nursing business. She also becomes aware of just how handsome, rugged and sexy this Greek billionaire is and vows not to succumb to his charm.
However, the tables are turned on both Kristian and Elizabeth as the attraction between them sizzles, a friendship develops and they share an evening of passion. But it doesn't just stop there......they run into Elizabeth's ex-husband and her true identity is exposed!
This is a wonderful story about finding peace, respect, joy and love during an incredible healing process. Bravo Jane Porter for again, entertaining your readers with a strong and powerful love story set in beautiful Greece.
