I don't see it as a major problem to be honest. The majority of new films released on Blu-ray are around the £17.00 mark anyway, so you're effectively paying .50p for the 3D disc. Having said that some 3D films contain the 2D version on the same disc so we'll have to wait and see what Entertainment Films in the UK do with it. That said, Dredd was the sole reason I forked out for a 3D TV and Blu-ray player, so impressed I was with the film.

The UK Blu-ray 3D of Hugo (released by Entertainment in Video, the same company that's releasing Dredd on Blu-ray 3D) was a 1-disc release with both the 2D and 3D versions on the same disc. I expect the same here, as well as a price drop by the release date, which would bring it to around £15, which is a fair price for a new release.
I to am MAJORLY disappointed that there is no 2D only version of this film on Blu Ray.
I couldn't see the film at the cinema when it came out, as NONE of the cinema's near me had a 2D showing (this is because I, like 10% of the UK population, I have a visual impediment which means I'm completely unable to see 3D). And now that it's coming out on Blu-Ray, the 3D version is still being rammed down the consumer's throats whether they want it or not (and I don't).
Guess it'll be the DVD version for me then

The 2D version will be on the same disc as the 3D version, as a couple of other posters have pointed out. So you won't need to resort to the DVD just to see it in 2D.
It's a bizarre trend with recent Blu-ray releases, either getting multi-packs that include BD + DVD + Digital Copy, very hard to find just a Blu-ray release (and in a supposedly 'green' world where resources are getting more valued this seems a backward trend). As for 3D, it's pretty much died a death again as basically most consumers are not interested in 3D.

Most 3D discs play back in 2D when viewed on incompatible hardware (and those that don't have a 2D alternative, either in the pack or as a separate release). You do not need to worry about buying this if you 'only' have a conventional TV/player.
I would usually be a bit peeved about this, but as Amazon and HMV are currently selling it at £13 it's not so bad. But how long will it stay at that price? I didn't get to see Dredd at the cinema, so I'm going to rent it, then if I enjoy it I'll most likely buy it. I may hold off a while for a price drop if Amazon and/or HMV change their price. £17 because it comes with a 3D disc that most of us don't use takes the cake.

I don't know why people are so bothered about this. It includes a 2D version and its only £13.00. What's the problem? That's a cheap Pre-release price for a new movie, that is awesome.
