Product Description

The Eee PC Seashell 1015PE answers consumers' needs for a netbook that boasts a stylish design with a long battery life. The 1015PE has a 13.5 hour battery life thanks to the ASUS-exclusive Super Hybrid Engine technology. The SHE intelligently adapts and adjusts power settings to give you the CPU performance you need. Based on the user settings and the applications being run, the SHE tailors the appropriate power requirements for the task at hand to ensure maximum efficiency.

Manufacturer's Description

Seemingly crafted by nature itself, the Eee PC 1015PE Seashell draws inspiration from seashells and its opalescent and glossy exterior is crafted by the innovative In-Mold Roller technology. It's so light and compact you can take it anywhere with you, and with sleek curves and smooth lines hugging the lustrous shell, the Eee PC 1015PE will easily charm passers-by wherever it goes.

11 hours battery life with Super Hybrid Engine

With the exclusive ASUS Super Hybrid Engine's increased power efficiency, the 1015PE can deliver an impressively long battery lifespan - eliminating worries about power while on-the-go and easily keeping users connected for full day, unplugged computing.

Massive Storage

The 1015PE contains a massive 250 Gb of built-in storage – providing instant access to your favourite files and allowing you to store up to 46,000 MP3 songs for maximum enjoyment on-the-go. If 250 Gb isn't enough, you can take advantage of the free 500Gb online Storage option, which means that your stored data can be accessed from any PC with an Internet connection, and sharing your photos, videos and music with friends and family couldn't be easier (Online Storage requires registration).

10 inch LED-backlit screen

The 1015PE's LED-backlit screen is ultra-thin and ultra-bright, but still energy efficient. The 10 inch display makes working with documents and watching videos a pleasurable experience, and the 1024 x 600 resolution means that you can view most web pages without having to scroll from left to right.

Ergonomic keyboard and TouchPad for unsurpassed comfort

The Eee PC 1015PE's keyboard is more comfortable and less fatiguing to type on for prolonged periods, and with the Multi-touch pad navigating is as easy as pointing a finger. Use fingertips to zoom in and out of your favourite photos, and scroll up and down by sliding two fingertips up and down the TouchPad. With navigation this easy, there's no need for a mouse.

my first netbook and after a good deal of research I chose this one and I think I got t right!

Pretty and light fast and with great connectivity. A great keyboard and good screen and brightness. The battery life is simply fantastic (the advertised durations are bang on)

If you are looking for a netbook for around £300 then this is the one for you.

Incidentally its not noisy!!

As a PS - increase the RAM to 2 Gig and then use the SD slot with a 4 Gig SD card dedicated to readyboost and you get a significant perfomance increase

Asus Eee PC 1015PE 10.1 inch netbook (Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz, 1GB, 250GB, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Up to 11hrs battery life, Windows 7 Starter) - Black
This is my second Eee Pc. For their size and cost they are quite formidable performers and beautifully made. Much as I like the solid state drive on my earlier Eee PC, it wasn't very big and the decent hard drive on the new machine is a great improvement. Windows 7 starter supplied with the Eee Pc is rather pathetic - the discounted update from Amazon is very well worthwhile. So is extra RAM, which speeds it up considerably and which can instantly be upgraded by undoing a single screw. When updated, it handles all normal programs perfectly adequately, including Microsoft Autoroute with GPS, which was a major reason for buying the new Eee PC. As long as you have a passenger in the car to read it, this combination far outshines any ordinary navigation system.

Running Photoshop Elements with very large files is a little slow, but adequate for storing and adjusting photographs whilst away from home, but don't try too many complicated operations on them.

I bought the Eee PC with a Panasonic external CD/DVD drive, which works perfectly. It is a little surprising that Asus do not provide their own branded one, bearing in mind just how much this simplifies loading programs.

The battery life really does approach the 11 hours claimed, especially with the extra RAM to reduce hard drive use, but it is shortened considerably (as one would expect)by accessories, such as GPS and a mobile broadband dongle - and especially with the CD/DVD drive.

One accessory that I needed, but could not find on Amazon, was a car charger for the Eee PC. I have now ordered one from Ebay!

Purchased a netbook for my wife a few months ago and was very impressed. Decided to buy one for myself and glad I have. Only downside is that I only have Windows 7 Starter

I bought this netbook after reading a favourable review in a pc magazine. I want the netbook to use when I am away on holiday and want internet availability, email access and certain files. The Assus seems just the package. It is solidly built with good sized keys. However I could not get on with the integrated mouse and bought an infrared mouse to use. I do not think the set up instructions are very clear for someone who is not a techie! I was able to get the pc set up eventually but was not able to sort out the internet connection. I had to ask a friend. I have not used windows 7 before and it looks a little strange and i have probably not got the best out of it yet. I still prefer XP 1. I have not loaded any additional software apart from Firefox and IE but the Assus does appear to be much slower than my main desktop at home which is a 3/4 yeare old Dell! The ASSUS comes already loaded with Microsoft Office 2010 (the free starter version). It contains Excel and Word and for everyday use seems just fine. The advertising band down the right of the screen that cannot be turned off is no more than an irritant and is well worth not having to pay for this office suite that I will only use occassionaly on this machine

It is really a good net book... Battery lasts for ever (at least 7 hours whatever you do with it), and believe me, that is the key for a net book!

The Asus PC1015PE netbook is a clamshell netbook running with a windows 7 starter pack.(I find it lacking in options, but my brother when using it does not notice. I suppose it depends what your using on it). The starter pack is upgradable to a full version if you want to.(costs extra)
The machine is fairly fast for a netbook in its range and bootup times and speed is improved once you uninstall all the pre-installed rubbish software include.
The meager 1 gb of ram might be too little for some and purchasing more might be a wise choice if your running several programs.
The Asus comes with an sd slot useful for photography and a supposed 11 hour battery life. I never get near that and would put it in the 7-8 hour range.
However this is dependent on what you run on it.
The Asus has a quick boot up mode to get to quick internet access but i found it rather useless. Also the pre installed free 30 days firewall works in this mode. but if you want to install your own it seems not to be compatiable in this mode.
The netbook can play 720p from youtube, avi and mkv files. I would not recommend using VLC player with this and suggest installing Media classic or kmplayer instead. Due to the way VLC hogs the system processer. I would also suggest installing Core Avc which improves the h.264 codec playback. (Its a cheap program that can improve playback on all old laptops as well).
The graphics are not able to really play games decently and if you really want to play games on a netbook i suggest buying
