I bought this because it was recommended by Amazon together with the Brenda Holloway compilation. I'm very glad that I did. It is a superb collection. Kim has one of the great soul voices. Her range of expression and sheer vocal technique from breathy to full voice is extraordinary. She can push into the hign register full voice like Aretha and still remain in perfect tune and control. Moreover Kim is a communicator and engages you emotionally. If you're a fan of soul and R&B music songs like Helpless, I'm Still Loving You and the legendary duets with Marvin Gaye will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

It is extraordinary when listening to realise that Kim only had a handful of hit records in the US and no real hits in the UK. If there is any justice then as more of her material becomes available she will get the global recognition she truly deserves. MGM and Stax should be prevailed upon to re-release the Kim Weston material they hold and which hasn't seen the light of day for years.

Meanwhile this is a ridiculously cheap price for the best of this ladies superb Motown work. Buy it now! You cannot go wrong.

This collection by Kim Weston is an absolute winner - I heard one track in a shop and bought it instantly, and the other nineteen are also very good. It seems to be more extended than a lot of Motown albums, both in the soulful pull of the material and the singing style. Her voice is superb, varied in tone from a strong, full delivery to a tender, yielding quality ... as other say, it is one of the best albums from the Motown label, and Ms Weston is in no way upstaged by Marvin Gaye on several duets. Highlights include Go Ahead and Laugh, the jazz-inflected Just Loving You, and Helpless, which sounds like a forerunner to Diana Ross's Chain Reaction. There are great versions of A Love Like Yours (Don't Come Knocking Every Day) and It Takes Two with Gaye. Beautiful as she is into the bargain, how can she possibly be so overlooked? Alas, it is so often the way in so many areas, where work of real beauty is almost criminally neglected except by a tiny minority ... Even van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime, so these artists - like Kim Weston - should take consolation in this, perhaps.

When you think you there are no more tracks from the vaults that can bring Tamla happiness you find material like this. A glorious young Kim backed by smooth harmonies and unmistakable Tamla rythmns.

When you play it you will finger click your way through each track. Some tracks are familiar but the obscure material is better than you can imagine.

Wonderful session musicians and writers never surpassed for creative output.
A treat all the way through.

a mixture of hits from this under rated singer along with several lesser known songs and "B" sides-great value and definitely worth buying-motown music at it's best including some Northern soul classics

I liked the CD but was disappointed that some of her best songs were not in stereo (e.g., TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS). However, if you can get over the mono versus stereo, this is an excellent CD for Kim Weston fans.
