Synopsis

This documentary takes viewers inside a Haitian slum of Cite Soleil, where poverty and violence are an everyday part of life. While presenting one family's story, a love triangle, and a war, all against a musical backdrop by Wyclef Jean, the filmmaker examines gang life from the inside out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghosts of Cite Soleil, 15 Jan 2008

If your interested in Hatian history or just want to see how lucky we are living in the western world the this film is for you. This is a rags to rags story of two brothers (Bily & 2pac) who are gang leaders loyal to the former president Aristide in the slum of Cite Soleil in the capital Port au Prince. Without revealing too much all i'll say is the filmakers were very brave taking on this project and i take my hat off too them. In Haiti life is cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful statement on life in Haiti, 25 Jun 2009

Very striking resemblance to City of God in terms of its visual stylings. The difference is that this is not a fictionalized reflection of events, it is reality. A very striking and dark reality at that. Watching i couldnt help feel a range of emotions towards the characters from sympathy to anger. Very powerful, well worth a watch.

It's only because this documentary film is so real & shocking, but also so moving, that you are left wanting more. Thrilling & harrowing. The best thing you'll see all year.
