I have asked amazon several times but they don't know :(

Several times.... thats not enough! I would ask them again!

But if they can't answer it.... again.... you have done the right thing, coming in here asking us!

Most of us in here, have top jobs at Sony, or work at the assembly line, and we can tell you, that you can rest assured, that you will get it after Christmas. Most likely, the 28'th of December, between 8 and 12 AM.

Order in in the next 2 hours, and receive, as a time limited offer, a set of kitchen knives, for free

Give the guy a break, loads of us wanna know if anyone has a hunch when stock might return.

I'm still waiting for stock from an order I placed 4 December, we are all in a queue and as stock arrives it will be sent out bit by bit to those who have made orders. Amazon won't have a clue when they can fulfil a specific order.

Just wait it out, good news is some people who have ordered Solas from Amazon around the end of November have started getting dispatch emails so chin up.

Finally got the money today for it and I tried, but there was no way I'd get a ps4 in shops near me. I ordered a kill zone bundle but after realising it was just the game and console for £500+ I cancelled and ordered the solus and no date yet. I think if you order late you have to expect delays as I did and accept that. Can't wait to play it tbh. Also, does anyone know if the trade-in voucher for FIFA 14, etc in game would still work?

Did anyone notice expected stock arrival a few weeks back on amazon? I'm sure it was on here it said January. Now I can't see it. Hopefully, this isn't a sign for a bigger delay. From what I've read on here already it doesn't look too bad. As long as you've bought one on here, you'll get it when they have it. For people who have tried local stores, I wouldn't bother as virtually everywhere are only selling pre-ordered consoles.

Axe says:
It seems that huge numbers of PS4s have been purchased only to be sold at huge prices on ebay.

In any case, sony has not handled this well at all. They knew it would be a success but this is the same story every launch with them.

P. Taylor says:
So many people think Sony have screwed up here, of course they haven't, they could have produced enough products to deal with the demand but then the demand would have been dealt with. To make the most money for the longest amount of time demand needs to be managed which is exactly why there isn't enough consoles to go round.

Some people who ordered proper late November are receiving they consoles so there's hope yet, if not I'm sure those of us who ordered early DEC will get deliveries in Janurary.

Axe says:
I'm not sure about your reasoning. It's poor business not to have enough stock. For a fact, xmas present shoppers are now purchasing xone instead.
Sony has lost sales and will continue to lose sales if they don't get a grip.

P. Taylor says:
Apple do the same with the new iPhone each year, never meets demand.

Besides I don't know which idiots are switching console just cause they can't get a ps4 on time, the ps4 is better which is fact not opinion to be swayed. If you want an xbox I would have thought its because you prefer the controller etc not because you can get one.

N. Harman says:
Axe, you don't understand consumer electronic launches do you. Microsoft, Sony, Apple they all do it. If you want a must have product you can't make it so everyone who wants one can have it instantly. There has to be some excitement about stock coming in etc. also prolongs sales, downloads of updates etc over a few months instead of massive spike then nothing. Look how many people on here are still talking about getting their ps4, if everyone had it launch day where is the hysteria they all want. Desireable products do this.

Exactly

Axe says:
There was lack of stock in these launches because of poor management.
1st day of business school teaches you to have stock.
Spikes are irrelevant and companies do not like spikes in any case because it makes future projections difficult.

No doubt that it is a desirable product but that is DESPITE of the poor management of stock and certainly NOT because of it.

P. Taylor says:
Oh well, that's one opinion I guess, not gonna debate with you on an online forum, no one ever wins, I disagree and think everything's gone to plan pretty much for Sony but anyways, here's to waiting it out.

N. Harman says:
Axe, the do it deliberately, you think they don't manage the amount of stock they want to go to market? I'm thinking the senior management at Sony might be a bit more experienced at this than you. They have sold millions globally and still have japan to launch, highest figures for any launch ever... Think they know what they are doing...

Hammerhand says:
Erm, I think it has more to do with procurements strategy and supply chain than managing demand. Sony already ships stuff to the uk, so to put the PS4s on these ships doesn't impact their operating costs. Putting on a freighter ship costs around £300k per week - I think it's six weeks from Japan to the UK - nearly an extra 2 million pounds of running costs. Flying stock of this volume is orders of magnitude more expensive by the way. Then there is physically storing the units prior to distribution once they get here- contrary to popular belief, storing stuff is not free and is quite lucrative, especially when you are building a larger than normal stock because of a launch day. Then distribution, exactly the same with the ship, each extra truck over and above the normal supply chain costs £££. Basic economics tells you more cost = less profits. It is all about reaching a critical mass where you can sell and distribute enough units to justify the initial outlay in marketing and the impact of your other stock not making your boat and to come out of the other door in profit. Business is all about reducing costs and boosting profits, no matter what the product or industry. This deliberately not meeting demand idea is just popular belief of those ignorant to the facts, realities and practicalities of multinational enterprise. They dispatch in the quantities they do because that is most cost effective, no other reason than that.

N. Harman says:
Think people have the idea that launch is everything, it is not. Sony and MS each sold around 80m units of last gen, based on the new consoles being the biggest launches they must have only sold 2-3% of the. 80m at launch last time. Sony finished slightly up but were 2nd for about 5 years. There is a long term strategy, launch big but it is not everything.

Posted on 14 Dec 2013 12:46:44 GMT
Hammerhand says:
Exactly, which is why they don't alter their supply chains and procurement strategies just because a product launches. It's not about managing demand, it is about juggling logistics - they ship as many as they physically can and still turn a profit.

Well whatever, its not a mistake or an error which is what sooo many people are saying, Sony this Sony that, I would say leaving DLNA out on day one is a mistake but nevermind.

Just waiting for my dispatch email, ordered 4 of December, mid Jan I think.
