Product Description

Synopsis

Have you ever wondered what is really going on behind the scenes as you are boarding an aircraft? Why the air-hostess greets you in a cheerful manner or has a look of sour-milk etched on her face? This book tells it all: a fascinating insight into what my life within an airline was really like, a no-holes barred account of what happened behind those curtains. Working as a Purser for seven years with Virgin Atlantic Airlines, I experienced some remarkable scenes and situations, from air rage to pilots' double lives, from wild ranch parties to millennium fever, which I have now captured on paper. It is an addictive read that will have you laughing all the way to the end. Your imagination will be captivated by the description of the exotic locations and the wonderful characters I encountered during my travels.

1.0 out of 5 stars One star is too much, 4 Dec 2007
By D. White - See all my reviews

This book is truly the worst I've ever read. It is homophobic, sexist and racist all rolled into one, quite an achievement. Each chapter describes how the author gets drunk and has sex in some different location. If this is your bag, you may like the book. Typos and spelling errors galore ensure that at the very least, the book prompted an emotional reaction from me!

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete and utter RUBBISH!!!!, 24 Jan 2008
By F. Murray (Scotland) - See all my reviews

I only gave this book 1 star as there isn't an option to give it less. I've read other books about the airline industry but none as bad as this. Gary is extremely homophobic, you have to wonder why Virgin employed him in the first place. Whoever typed the book for him needs to go back to school and learn how to type, a four year old could do better. I read the first 3 chapters and decided that it was only fit for the fire.

1.0 out of 5 stars Homophobic rubbish, 26 Nov 2007
By David "David" (Brighton, UK) - See all my reviews
Thank God I didn't actually pay money to read this book. What a waste of time. This has been written by a homophobic male, who, perhaps insecure in his own sexuality, feels the need to provide us with nearly 250 pages of poorly and unimaginitively written drivel, mainly outlining his sexual exploits. Any time he refers to a gay male in this book, they are always described as camp, limp wristed, and bulgy-eyed??? What's all that about? As a gay man myself, I can say that gay men did not deliberately decide to invade this profession, many are just naturally inclined to it. If you are comfortable in your own sexuality, why would you feel the need to constantly describe gay men in such a derogatory manner? Why would you feel uncomfortable having two gay male golfing partners? How arrogant to assume that just because they're gay, and he's male (and no oil-painting judging by the photo on the back), they'd want to pounce on him? I think this is definitely a case of someone protesting too much! Wouldn't give him the time of day. No wonder such a liberal industry like the airline industry rejected him. Can't say I felt sorry for him.
