3.0 out of 5 stars not a love story 28 Jun 2013

This isn't a pleasant film ; 3 characters; a violent and angry dominatrix [ ok I did enjoy the spitting scene too ] a struggling submissive [ for all those you fell for fifty shades ] and an obsessive loser struggle with love . It works as a play and there are some very good speeches but at times its not easy or pleasant viewing . The scenes in the bar / dancing are very student amateur night out and I am not sure how much the cartoon ott violence adds to it either ; less can sometimes be more , although I guess all is making Will Terrans point . Not sure that there is any particular new insights here about this alternative relationships nor that Terran is able to see beyond violence to understand all the complexities of love . That may be down to the rather wooden actors [ Lisa is very unconvincing as the polyamorist , she looked more like some one who would do knitting in a crouch end tea shop . Strange little film , I did actually find it compelling to watch [ sexual clockwork orange ] and it is only upon reviewing that my dissatisfactions have appeared .

4.0 out of 5 stars The film we've been waiting for! 12 Jun 2013
Director Will' Terran has certainly pulled a corker out of the bag (if that's a term) with his latest film ID-Ology.

The script is certainly gripping with believable (if disturbing) characters! We follow their twisted lives and revel in some excellent characterisations. Having seen other films by Mr. Terran I feel he has surpassed himself with this one - the direction is inventive and very classy and the dialogue is beautifully realised.

I will warn that this film is NOT for the faint hearted - with very real characters comes very real danger! Sex and violence walk hand in hand in a refreshingly non-glamorous way.

Well done - I hope we see more like this!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's definitely not Love Actually! 23 Jan 2013

First things first - postage. Paid for standard delivery and was sent out on same day. Five stars.

Product - standard DVD case, good quality cover, high quality glossy inserts as per product description. Overall a very high quality product in the material sense. Five stars.

The Film - I'm not film buff, so don't know about lighting, script, editing etc. However, I know what I like, and I really liked this film. It's gritty, it's dark, it's dirty. It is also very uncomfortable in places, which is a good thing in this case. It's not a high budget production, but that in itself is refreshing.

Being a fan of films like 'Anne Of Green Gables', this was a real departure from my usual film choice, but I am glad I made the purchase. A must for anyone who wants to develop their tastes, and the boundaries, of their DVD collection to include something with real merit.

I never thought I'd ever say this about a film, but my favourite scene is when Anuska spits over the man in the alley out the back of the nightclub. If you see this film, you will understand the full context of the scene. It's not something you see in many films.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good English Indie Movie 21 Jan 2013
By Simon
What to say about Id-Iology.

Firstly it's split into 3 parts, all done as intimate stories of individual characters whose lives interact with each other. It's a shocking 'in your face' portrayal of a dominatrix, masochist & obsessive. This is not a cutesy romance movie.

It is, however, a good story for a play as it is set in different parts. Well scripted, gritty & realistic with very good yet unknown actors. Yes the budget was non existent and it was all shot in 1 or 2 days but it is well done nonetheless with good lighting, camera work and direction.

Although some of the situations were a little unrealistic the actors portraying the characters made them come alive.

Shocking and self indulgent yes but if 'Will Terran continues to hone his craft he will be making some very good movies indeed.
