The iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaning robot removes dirt, debris and hair from all types of floors at the touch of a button.
Featuring iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology, Roomba monitors the cleaning environment over 60 times per second, using multiple sensors and over 40 behaviours to maximise cleaning performance. It thoroughly cleans your carpets, hardwood, tile and linoleum floors, including in tight spots, under and around furniture and along edges.

The 600 Series delivers greater ease of use with superior hair handling ability – innovative longer-lasting brushes handle fibres more effectively than ever, whilst AeroVac Technology maximises air flow through the cleaning head to pull debris off the brushes and into the newly designed larger bin.

The 650 can easily be scheduled to clean whenever you want – up to seven times per week, whilst the Virtual Wall barrier allows you to confine Roomba to specific rooms or areas before it returns to its Home Base to dock and recharge between cleanings. All you have to do is press “Clean” and let Roomba do the dirty work.

The Roomba 600 series, which includes model 650 offers a number of improvements over the 500 series. On the hardware front the 600 models has "AeroVac Technology" for an improved vacuuming system, an improved cleaning head module with better brush design and airflow, and a pop of colour on the top.

The 600 series looks a bit nicer than the 500s, is a slightly more efficient cleaner, and its bin has to be emptied less often, but most of the key features are unchanged. The 600 series is still designed for up to 110 square metres and works with optional virtual walls.

Roomba: Born to Make a Difference

There are now many vacuum-cleaning robots on the market. However,
Roomba remains a unique product from a unique company because, whilst other products are the result of an appliance manufacturer deciding to build a robot, Roomba is the creation of a robotics company, who decided to make people’s lives better.

Roomba: From Dream to Real Life

Roomba was created to live in our world: a world with furniture and pets, children and dirt, different floor coverings and precious possessions and homes with more than one room lived in by real people with busy lives. We created Roomba to live in the real world.

Coverage: Roomba covers as much of the floor as possible – multiple times

Crisis Management: Roomba can deal effectively with unexpected changes and problems

Cleaning Performance: It’s equipped to clean effectively on all different floor surfaces

Cost Effective: Clever design and smarter technology delivers a great product at an affordable price

Reliability: Roomba is continuously tested and refined to ensure reliability

Power Management: Advanced software ensures that Roomba’s tasks are completed as efficiently as possible

Control: Virtual Wall barriers mean Roomba can be kept out of areas it shouldn’t go

Safety: Touch sensitive bumpers and infrared sensors ensure Roomba doesn’t damage valuables – or itself – around the home

Mobility: Roomba is designed so that it doesn’t get stranded or tangled as it cleans the home

The Power to Adapt

One of Roomba’s major advantages is its unique navigation system, iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology. This advanced system of sensors and software lets Roomba adapt to its environment, making more than 60 decisions every second and employing the most relevant of dozens of cleaning behaviours. So, unlike its competitors, who clean rigidly in straight lines and can become confused by obstacles, Roomba will cope perfectly in your home. It tackles every room on its own merits, adapting its path to clean more of the floor more thoroughly, including along edges and under, around and behind furniture. Roomba’s iAdapt is driven by a series of infrared sensors, which constantly monitor its surroundings and report to a complex processor where advanced software interprets the information and allows it to react accordingly.

Probably the best household item purchase ever made. I have 2 large dogs which shed a lot and the only way to keep the house tidy is by vacuuming every day. The schedule on this makes it so much easier. It is also much easier to clean than my previous vacuum (Dyson Animal) taking approx 5 mins every 2 days. My main concern was that I would need to empty it all the time, however now that I have been using it for a while have noticed the frequency reduce to every 3 days or so, purely due to the volume of dog hair.

Only issue I have is that it doesn't do stairs however it does not claim to do so nothing I can feel aggrieved about. I just purchased a small handheld device and that does the job.

Regarding performance I can honestly say this outclasses previous vacuums by a country mile.

On day of delivery I vacuumed the hallway twice with my Dyson Animal after fully cleaning it, then sat Roomba down and started it. To be honest I cannot stress enough the level of shock that I actually had to empty it, I fully expected it to pick up almost nothing.

Conclusion - Great product, absolutely no chance of me purchasing a conventional vacuum cleaner when this is available.

P.S. After hours of extensive research and testing this was also found to be the best cleaning robot available by

I am never, ever going back to vacuuming again (except the stairs). The Roomba does a brilliant job. I’ve had it for six months and used it on all types of floor. We recently had a new carpet and Roomba had the task of tidying up all the little inch long strands of carpet left by the fitters when cutting the new carpet to shape. Roomba did it easily.
When I first read reviews of the Roomba before buying one I thought that the people who were anthropomorphising their robot hoover were a bit weird but I’ve become one of them, stopping just short of saying “Excuse me” to Roomby if I’m in his way. I have found myself saying “Thank you”. Sometimes he tickles my feet with his side brush. I hope he’s happy here (it’s like having a non-annoying version of Red Dwarf’s Talkie Toaster).
He does require emptying and his brushes cleaning every couple of uses but this is much less hard work than vacuuming. If this Roomby breaks I’d get another straight away (or maybe after an appropriate period of mourning). I used to laugh at my Mum when she told me that getting a washing machine for her twenty-first birthday was one of the best presents she ever got, but since I’ve had the Roomba I know what she means. So, apart from the fact that the Roomba has made me turn slightly into my mother, it’s a great buy.

Firstly lets get this out of the way, this is inarguably a non-necessary, luxury purchase. I'm lazy, and I can live with it. However, when you consider the cost of a cleaner (which I used to have), while it obviously does only one specific task as opposed to a human that does more, it quickly pays for itself.

Secondly, I am an honest, no-BS kind of bloke. If something is good, I say it's good. if it's bad, I say it's bad. I have a very good critical and objective opinion as well as heavy lashings of common sense, so you can take the below as a full and frank account of what I really think of this device thus far.

Fact: I HATE cleaning, as a single guy it's the scourge of my free time and I am always looking for ways to make life easier in that department. A friend bought one a couple of years ago and has raved about it for so long (she is also very homely and fastidious) that I finally started to do some research myself to see what the fuss was about.

Reviews and user feedback was generally very positive even from cleaning experts and fussy housewives, especially for the new range of models, and according to user experiences it apparently cleans around 95% of your floors, with the other 5% in difficult to reach areas like corners needing good old-fashioned elbow grease. I then went online and duly ordered my new robot son.

My apartment, for those into stat-porn, is around 80m2, and consists of a bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway.

I have now used the Roomba for just over a week. Every day at 12pm my robotic son has patrolled my apartment, his little brushes whirring merrily as he collects my household detritus.

I usually do not write reviews because I simply do not get much spare time. Since purchasing the iRobot Roomba 650 i am happy to say this has changed so I thought I would write a review. I absolutely love this product and it is well worth every penny. I did think, like many others, that is was a lot of money for a "gadget". My opinion has completely changed. I vacuumed my living room first with another expensive brand vacuum cleaner. I then let the iRobot get to work and I was amazed at just how much it picked up despite the fact I had just vacuumed. Admittedly it does look like a slightly haphazard way of covering the room but once you get over the fascination of watching it you will just set it to go and come back to a lovely vacuumed room. It is clever enough not to fall down the stairs and I love the fact it puts itself back on charge too. It is easy to clean and the replacement parts are reasonably priced. What more can I say than 5 stars!
