As with most "Missing Manual" products, this one follows the trend. Well written, and now on much better photographic quality paper and in full colour. Recommenced to all who are struggling with the excellent iPhoto programme. The manual seems to cover all aspects of the programme, and is an easy read. Lets hope that all future "Missing Manual" publications are in the same mould, i.e. full colour and on this quality paper etc.

Am using this with a heavy heart because of the expense I have incurred buying it for my new iMac only to read that in the Autumn a new Operating system (which eventually I will have to install to be able to use newer software being developed) WITHOUT iPhoto is issued. How are we supposed to continue use things that are suitable for our purpose if the companies constantly make them obsolete? The book is fine for as long as it is relevant.

Well written and full of helpful tips and advice. A real life saver when you take the decision to leave Microsoft and join Apple.
It is the book that Apple should have produced and thanks to David Pogue for sharing his expertise in an understandable and entertaining manner.

Just out and obsolete... 3 July 2014
By Don B. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have many "Missing Manuals" for all my various Apple products and their inevitable replacement OSs and they are terrific reference manuals. I've always learned something I didn't know about using the products I own. It may not be fair to only give 4 stars to a book I find so useful but I'm hoping to save someone some money as I no sooner got this book than Apple announced the end of iPhoto as we (and this book) know it.
It is my understanding that this fall, in conjunction with iOS8 and OS X Yosemite, iPhoto will turn into a cloud based (and much improved "Photo" thus making this iteration of the book obsolete in months if not weeks. Save your money and wait for "Photo".

The book does not cover iOS 8 19 Oct. 2014
By Lucius Pitts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
iPhoto the missing manual does not cover the iOS version 8.0 as iPhoto has been removed for the iPad and iPhone under iOS 8. It does not cover the photos app under iOS 8. So, if you have iOS 7 and iPhoto then it is fine. Just a heads up.

The best book I know of for iPhoto! 20 Oct. 2014
By Justin Charles Holt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Lesa does a great job of making this information accessible and fun, while being incredibly thorough. Her Photoshop books are just as well done. I'm an Apple Consultant and these are the books I recommend for anyone looking to get more out of the software!
Great book with organisational tips as well 3 Nov. 2014
By kiwi girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Excellent guide with strategies as well. I have been using iPhoto for 3 or 4 years now and I got this book to help me learn about it. What I like about it is the tips on how to keyword photos and the organisational tips on the best way to organise your photo library. Some iPhoto books just describe a feature in step by step manner but not the best way to use all the features e.g. how to stop your keyword library getting enormous by using places, faces, dates and descriptions as well as keywords.
I've just done 13 iphotobooks which I'm thrilled with. I had this guide on my desk the whole time. I"m not concerned that the new Photos is coming out, I won't convert straight away and I have got well worth my money with this book as a guide.
