This book could be good, but its not. It could have been a great help, but it isnt. I warn you to stay clear.
This book has been written in a hurry, and not checked through for errors, if it had been then the "easy to spot" mistakes wouldnt have been in there.
I am a programmer and I currently have apps made in Flash CS5 on the iPhone app store, I have made games for Windows and iOS, and for on the web, so I would say I know a thing or two about programming. I am new to iOS xcode, but by no means a dummie......
...however, I find this book useless, hard to understand, choppy, jumping from topic to topic, full of errors...
It does not explain the code. What is does do is explain the mechanics of how iOS works, but this book is all about learninf to code, and what it get round to the code, it doesnt explain where to put the code, tells you to put code in files/classes that dont exist (ie he has miss-spelt the class/file name, put the wrong extention, or just not bothered to say), the is references to the wrong bits of code (eg, "enter code in box 6-3, into the class, then enter the code in box 6-3 into the class also") which he has just said...short term memory troubles maybe?!
If you like problem solving this book is for you! You will find yourself on forums and youtube trying to get the correct code. There is important code missing, and you have to work this out yourself.
If you are new to this, this book will not help you.
