Technically inadequate, 29 April 2007
This review is from: iDect X1i Triple Digital Cordless Telephone With Answer Machine - Black (Electronics)
Looks great and is, in many ways, a practical design. Unfortunately it is let down by its technical inadequacies on almost every front:
the range of the handsets from the base station is limited
the clarity of the handset speaker is poor
the clarity of the answering machine recordings is apalling
my partner only uses the basic functions because the others require so many keys to be pushed
I wish I had not been seduced by its looks

Don't bother., 16 April 2007
This review is from: iDect X1i Triple Digital Cordless Telephone With Answer Machine - Black (Electronics)
Whilst being very pretty and stylish, this phone is not up to scratch.
Problems:
1. Extremely unclear with some of hissing and distortion during calls.
2. Too quiet with only 3 volume levels.
4. Listening to messages requires 7 keystrokes on the handset and cannot be done from the base station.
5. Deleting messages takes another several keystrokes per message.
6. Answerphone records nothing but registers a message if the other party hangs up. (Then the 10 odd keystrokes above are required to delete.)
7. Something is wrong with the ground curcuit as when the LED displaying the number of messages is flashing, an extremely bad hissing is present on the line.
Give it a miss.

Useless - re batteries....., 8 Oct 2007
This review is from: iDect X1i Triple Digital Cordless Telephone With Answer Machine - Black (Electronics)
Very stylish - found it adequate and useful with 3 handsets.
BUT - when one set failed re the rechargeable batteries - then say goodbye.
The shop I purchased it from does not keep batteries and sent me to an electronics firm who also did not stock them.
I have contacted the manufacturers selling agent in this country who are still selling this phone. They have NO batteries in stock and can't say when they will get them. They will not take a pre order and now over a period of three weeks ask me to ring again in a fortnight.Or try the internet!
DON'T BUY.
I will be very happy to retract this statement if anyone can tell me where to buy replacement rechargeable 2/3 AAA 1.2v 400mAh batteries!
