5.0 out of 5 stars Good Performer For Price 25 April 2011
By Mr T

I bought this to use in the htpc I was building. It has more than enough performance for that. Using the in-built graphics I can watch Blu-Rays with no stuttering or break-up and DVDs are up-scaled as well. Another benchmark for readers - using Windows Media Player to rip my music CD's to the Library, a 45 minute CD is ripped in less than 2 minutes. I feel this Core i3 gives the best price-performance of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delighted! 25 Aug 2011

What do I say? It works, and extremely well at that. I fitted it to an Asus motherboard and haven't looked back. Simple to install and then you sort of forget about it as it just works. Happy to recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great budget CPU for custom PC 13 Jun 2011
By Rcoops
Using this CPU with:

- Gigabyte H55N-USB3 Motherboard
- Corsair 4GB 1333Mhz Ram.
- Scythe Shuriken Rev.B Quiet Low Profile CPU Cooler

Have the Motherboard at stock voltages and the CPU running at 4.0Ghz and the Memory at about 1400Mhz. Everything running stable with Linpack and prime 95 and OCCT (google these stress testers).

CPU is usually between 35 and 45 degrees at normal idle load and about 55-70 max at full load (hardly ever at full load other than the stress testing programs).

Overall very happy with this CPU.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great deal 13 Mar 2014

A rare event for an expensive processor to go belly up so delighted to be able to find a same spec. replacement at a very reasonable price. I took care to read up on thermal paste techniques as this is an important procedure when fitting a replacement.
My PC is firing on all cylinders again and I'm chuffed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Overclocker and CPU 11 Dec 2010
By Steven Klimasewski - Published on Amazon.com

Alright so this is a great processor! Installed easy and the heat sink comes with thermal paste applied for convenience. Easy to install and instructions are simple. This also overclocks well. I got it up to 3.8GHz with the stock cooler never reaching about 75C. I am sure you can push this much further with no problem but I did not want to push my luck. Overall I think this is an excellent choice for people that use a computer for light to moderate gaming or multitasking.

Easy to install
Easy to understand instructions
Can overclock to 3.8GHz with stock cooler
Never goes above 75C even with overclock.
Duel threads per core
Integrated video controller

Not the fastest for video editing or other programs that support many cores well

Not much to complain about works like it should.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good performance at a reasonable price 24 Nov 2010
By ARK - Published on Amazon.com
I purchased this CPU with a Gigabyte motherboard at a local retail store to replace a 4-year old 3.0GHz Pentium-4HT home server running Linux. No computation-heavy tasks have run so far.

Very good news is the power consumption has reduced dramatically. The old server often reported automatic reduction of CPU clock due to excess CPU temperatures in summer. The system power consumption is now only 70W down from 120W including motherboard and a 4-disk RAID5 array on both systems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality CPU 11 Oct 2010

This is a good CPU. I paired it with a Gigabyte GA-H57 USB3 motherboard. Easy to install, package included cooling fan with thermal grease already installed. I didn't realize that the i3 doesn't have Intel's "Turbo Boost" but that is not an issue with the processor just my research. However, the processor is fast at a good price and the integrated graphics controller works well and is good for everyday systems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for pc builders on a budget. 15 Dec 2011

Sure this is slightly slower than the i3-550 and i3-560, and slower than the i5 and i7, but that doesn't matter. And at a 3rd of the price of the i7, you can use this just fine until you save up for the i7. It's good enough to run modern games (I can play Skyrim and many other games), videos, photoshop, etc. etc. with no problems. The Intel Integrated Graphics crashed constantly on Windows 7 64 bit no matter what driver I used, but once I threw in a graphics card, this processor was wonderful. I highly recommend this for pc builders - even gamers - that are on a budget.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good starter 12 Feb 2011

For me, this was just a "for now" CPU. Going to one of the i7K CPUs in maybe 6-8 months. But this CPU is doing a great job. Replaced a PC that had a Q6600. I think this is a bit faster than that. Very happy w/ this CPU.
