Despite never having heard of this film, I picked it up because of the cast, and the plot.
Christian Slater plays a very laid back thief, and Val Kilmer is the, slightly mad, FBI Agent (reminding me somewhat of Chevy Chase). They play off each other brilliantly, with Slater organising everything and trying to make both the crooks and Kilmer happy, but always at the disadvantage. The young actress who plays Slater's daughter is also very well cast, and she brings real emotion to the story, ensuring that Slater does the 'right thing' in the end.
The screenplay is interlaced with both amusing and somewhat gorey incidents, but neither is overplayed.
The only downside of the movie is that the car chase scenes and scenes in the boat, near the end, are so obviously being filmed from a trailer. This was a real shame, as it detracted from the plot, and made the film seem amateurish.
Gernerally a good view, which keeps your interest throughout, as you're never quite sure who knows what about whom, or who trust who, until the very end.
