Excellent debut album, 9 Dec 2008
'Right Now' is Leon Jackson's debut album and it is very impressive. It's hard to believe that such a rich and mature-sounding vocal can come from a 19-year-old lad.
There's a good mix of jazz, soul and pop. Leon's vocal shines in each of the genres. 'Stargazing' (my favourite), 'Fingerprints' and 'Ordinary Days' are gentle pop songs, with an abundance of acoustic guitar and piano. 'Stargazing' is the stand-out of the three, in my opinion. The soaring chorus and key change near the end of the song give me goosebumps. A truly beautiful song, coupled with Leon's warm and emotive vocal.
'Could Do Better' is one of the stand-outs from the 'BIG' songs. It would make a fabulous theme tune for the next Bond movie!
'Creative' is due to be released as the next UK single soon. It is upbeat and insanely catchy... and gets stuck in your head after only one or two listens. Leon's vocal is rich and jazzy, and the song itself has a distinct Samba feel to it. Kind of like a Samba-ish, but jazzy Ricky Martin! This song will have you up and dancing every time you listen to it!
Moving on to song No.12 - 'Caledonia'. This is the best version I've ever heard of this song. Leon is proud of his Scottish heritage, and it really shows in his heartfelt and emotional vocal.
I could write so much more, but it would end up as a huge essay! These songs are all just so good. The combination of such good songs and Leon's superb warm and rich voice, makes this album exceptionally excellent! Time was spent on recording this album and it shows. It oozes class.
Five stars for the album
and
an extra five stars for the singer! The future is looking bright for this young Scottish lad. Apparently, there is already interest outside of the UK.

Utterly Wonderful Suprise, 19 Oct 2008
After the good but not great first single of Dont Call This Love I was wondering what to expect from the debut album from young Leon Jackson. A totally different singer to the previous winner of X Factor, Leona Lewis, but just as impressive and distinctive vocally, Leon has more in common with the great rat pack artists of yesteryear and for an untrained 19 year-old it is all the more impressive that he has recorded a first album of such distinction, maturity and perfect vocals. It is like a different person takes over when he sings from the shy, nervous youngster so unsure of himself when placed in front of an audience. Songs like the anthemic Stargazing written by Alan Chung, more usually to be found writing for Michael Buble', are immediately engraved in people's heads with the wonderful words and music so rare in many of today's songs. Coldplay would have sold their souls for this song. Then there is All In Good Time - a catchy singalong song which again seems like one of the old school classics but is in fact a brand new song written by Peter Gordeno who has had a hand in a number of the new songs on this debut album including the Jewel in the Crown of Creative, a fantastic ratpack style uptempo song lent a modern edge with a female backing that literally wont leave your head. Why this was never chosen as the first single from the album I will never know. A big mistake in my opinion. The song Could Do Better wouldnt look out of place on a George Michael album tinged with lush vocals and a jazzy score.Ordinary Days is another very good song though suffers in comparison to the three classic songs of Creative, Stargazing and All In Good Time. The covers are all excellent though special mentiom must go to You Dont Know Me and A Song For You which sound like someone singing who has perfected his craft after being in the business for years.
A fantastic debut album that sounds like nothing you would expect of someone who has won a television reality show. Give it a go - you will be very glad that you did.

A Well Deserved 5 Stars, 1 Jan 2009
Right Now
I almost cancelled my order for this CD. Two good singles yes, but with the very public lack of support from Simon Cowell from the very beginning I doubted that he'd have given Leon the backing necessary to make the
album that he deserved. Luckily for me I left it too late to cancel it!
This album is excellent and leaves the much hyped, highly successful but ultimately dissapointing, debut album by Leona Lewis in the shade. If only Leon had been given a fraction of the promotional support that Leona enjoyed, his had, and still has, the potential to win an army of fans all over the world. If not already a fan, don't let Leon's age lead you to pre-judge his music. Listen to this album and you'll find it appeals to all ages and deserves to get serious airtime on Radio 1 and 2 and the FM and 'grown up' variations of every major radio station in the UK.
'Don't call this love' was a good choice of first single, 'Creative' is a great song that has a latin tempo. Now if only Leon did a Spanish version he'd take those parts of the world by storm! 'Stargazing' is a fantastic song well sung. This should be the next single and with the push it deserves it could be huge. 'All in good time' and 'Right Now' sound like 'crooner' classics. The arrangements are BIG and Leon delivers. "You don't know me' and track 8,'A Song For You', are the inevitable tributes to previous interpretations of these songs by his idol Michael Buble. 'Ordinary Days' slots in between these two. It was written for him by John Reid, the man previously associated with Elton John; could have been sung by Sinatra and is, for me, another classic. 'Fingerprints', a potential hit single, is a quality song. Although not as strong as 'Stargazing', it's very catchy. The final two tracks are 'Misty Blue', which is good but not great, and his version of 'Caledonia', which is another with a big string arrangement and very good. The bonus track, the No. 1 hit 'When You Believe', needs no comment.
Mr Cowell, do yourself a favour and give Leon the push he deserves. You've allowed him to make a great album of fabulous, mature, music and with support he can be a major artist selling millions of albums for decades to come.
