"music succeeds where politics are religion have failed"

This is basically a behind the scenes documentary of a music festival Jay-Z organised in Philadelphia. The film was made by Ron Howard, and he did a great job of capturing everything.

The purpose of the festival according to Jay-Z was to bring many types of different musicians and people together - mirroring the dream that Jay-Z wants for the whole of America as a nation; to live together and be accepting of people for whoever they are and whatever they believe.

In addition to there being a lot of good music performances (Pearl jam and Run DMC were highlights for me), we also hear from a lot of the artists. The artists all give out positive messages telling you to follow your dreams. We also get to know a lot about their backgrounds.

In addition to the musicians, Ron talks to stage crew, food vendors and local residents who live near the venue, and had some involvement with the festival.

The film concludes with a huge performance from jayz and kanye west.

Im not particularly a huge Jay Z fan necessarily, but i admire his mentality and work ethic. If you like music and want to be inspired, then this film will be a good watch.

I find it frustrating to watch, as it goes from one person to another way too quickly.
