My husband and I recently came across this series and it was a great find. The two main characters, portrayed by the terrific actors Dillane and Poesy, play well off each other and have excellent chemistry. The show is witty and engaging and the union of the French and British police added a fresh dynamic to the crime drama. The series is based off The Bridge, which I have never seen so I can offer no opinion on that subject. The first series of The Tunnel is centered on one main criminal, known as the Truth Terrorist, and a series of horrific crimes he carries out over the episodes. There were some twists and turns and the momentum was excellent - good pacing and buildup. I definitely recommend it for those interested in mysteries and crime dramas.

Great drama, i liked the fact that I had not personally recognised any of the actors so they straight away seemed convincing. I understand that the lead lady was in Harry Potter (thanks to my wife for that). This series was not afraid to show some fairly horrible crimes, it is a post 9:00 programme and all the better for it. We binge watched it, three at a time on Amazon Prime, definitely the best way to watch, I cannot wait for a week between episodes.

Follows very closely the storyline of The Bridge. Gritty and realistic. Coming from that area of Kent, but now living in France and using the Tunnel on regular basis it all feels very realistic.

A brilliant homage to The Bridge, but excellent in its own right.
