There seems to be this superstition about a show going downhill when you get the main characters together, and many shows fight against it for far longer than they should. But ultimately, it is all about how you handle the characters as a couple, and the sixth season of Castle proves just how great it can be.

The season picks up at the season five cliffhanger. Author Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), unaware that Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) has decided to take a job with the FBI in DC, proposed to her. In typical Castle fashion, the response was equally parts funny and touching. The result is that we get a season of Castle and Beckett planning a wedding. (Really, did you expect her to say no? The whole premise of this show is about their relationship.) However, Beckett also takes the job with the FBI, and we spend a few episodes with that before things get back to normal.

Normal, of course, being Castle following Beckett around helping her solve murders in New York City and getting ideas for his Nikki Heat books. Over the course of the season, they solve such mysteries as a former TV star, a case the FBI is interested in. There’s a case where their prime suspect claims to be from the future. Someone is killing the doppelgangers of the members of the precinct. There’s a murder at Castle’s high school (well, one of his high schools). And Who do they believe when multiple people confess to a murder knowing details only the killer would know.

Nathan Fillion decided as the season began that he wanted to work fewer hours, a move I can understand since being the lead in a show and pretty much in every scene can make for a very exhausting schedule.

Loved every second of this series, it's one of my favourite shows. Great characters and storyline with some satisfying closing arcs as well as great humour. The finale was a joy and can't wait to see the next season. It is a show I would recommend to everyone as it has something for everyone.

Another great season from Castle, Nathan Fillion is fantastic as usual as is Stana Katic. This season sees Kate win and lose her new job at the attorney general's office, and Castle ingest a deadly toxin, Alexis moves in with her fruitarian boyfriend Pi whom she met treckking round Costa Rica, this season also sees castle and Beckett get engaged, not to be missed, recommended for all Richard Castle fans, the best Castle season yet. Buy it now!!

I love the whole series and got hooked once it started on Channel 5. The chemistry between the whole cast it absolutely amazing and it has just the right mix of tension, romance, humour and seriousness. Looking forward to season 7 especially after the season finale! (not giving the game away!)

The sixth series expands on the couple's relationship and the final journey to arresting Kate's Mother's murderer. Rick's support never failing. The ending - by far the angstiest cliff hanger!

DVD arrived promptly and well packaged. The content is excellent as I knew it would be because I've watched the previous five seasons. I shall soon be looking for season 7.

So we're into Season 6 now and I'm assuming you know at least the basics for this great show. If not then rewind to Season 1 and get on board from there, I doubt you'll regret it.

This fun sixth year picks up where we left it, in a playground to deal with the small matter of a marriage proposal. From there we get a brief change of scenery which brings a bit of freshness before we settle back into the comfortable routine of madcap murder mysteries. All the usual characters are present and correct with a few new faces and the odd blast from the past.

This years highlights include a hostage crisis, time travel, doppelgängers, babies, telekinesis and ninja assassins. Some of its rather serious (including the resurrection of an old long running plot line) but mostly it's the usual blend of ingenious/preposterous comedic cases. As before it all makes for entertaining, fast paced, 40 minute doses of crime littered with a blur of false leads and red herrings before our team inevitably get their man. And what a team they are, led by the always brilliant Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

Overall I think it maybe doesn't reach the peaks of seasons 3 and 4 (my personal faves) but it's still never less than entertaining. Top stuff.

As good as ever BUT haven't people realised yet that a "will they/wont they" situation is ALWAYS more interesting than "yes they have"!
