A two disc dvd box set, containing all ten episodes of the seventeenth season of cult tv cartoon show South Park.

Yes, ten episodes. This is the standard length of the seasons from now on.

The packaging is thus slimmer than before, with a pull out box inside a cardboard one. The cardboard one has a flap on the left side that the pull out box does tend to get stuck on. So pull the former out first to avoid aggravation.

Language and subtitle options are:

Languages: English, Dutch, German.

Subtitles: English, Dutch, German.

As usual, most episodes tend to take a current issue - current at the time it was made - and use them as the basis for something happening in the town which quickly escalates.

Episodes - which have an impressive new title sequence - are:

Let go, Let gov. Cartman tries to be like Edward Snowden and get the secrets of the NSA. A superb season opener with some hilarious takes on people overusing social networking.

Informative murder tv [not the real title, but that wouldn't get past the amazon language detector]. The kids try to stop their parents watching sensational true crime documentaries. The parents can only get their shows back by understanding a certain video game. Another very solid episode with some fun animation.

World War Zimmerman. Following the verdict in the Trayvon Martin case, Cartman takes drastic steps to make sure people don't riot. This has one superb scene all about the verdict, and is also a very funny parody of the film World War Z. But it might not work well for anyone who hasn't seen that.

Goth Kids Three; dawn of the posers.

Another great season - only 10 episodes this time around, but all are great. The 3 part console war/ Game of Thrones episodes are fantastic!

If you're a fan of South Park, you won't be disappointed.

If you've played "South Park: The Stick of Truth" you'll love the Black Friday Trilogy in this season, which spoofs Game of Thrones, the PS4 vs. the Xbox One debate and American (and now UK) Black Friday sales.

Season 17 is the shortest season of South Park, with ten episodes in total, which I think has helped the quality compared to previous seasons. Other episodes include the return of Kanye West (he isn't married to a Hobbit, maybe), a World War Z-type episode and an episode mocking Miley Cyrus - "Taming Strange".

What can I say about South Park? It's just brilliant! Definitely one of the best animated comedies out there today, and this Season is just full of great episodes including the three part Game of Thrones parody.

Just a side note though, the slip cover that comes with the DVD is far too small and the DVD does not come out easy. Unfortunately my slip cover tore when trying to remove the DVD, so just be careful with it guys.

South Park Season 17 is certainly a short season, and because of that the weaker episodes had a bigger impact on the overall quality on this season. Thankfully, I would only consider 2 of episodes to be lacking, whilst the rest of season was pretty solid. I won't go into too much detail about the episodes as I expect quite few of those who read this have not seen it yet.

Things started off rather poorly with Let's Gov, Let's Go! The episode did set up a rather interesting premise and it also bagged a few good laughs, the episode overall, felt a bit stale. 6/10

The second episode was a vast improvement over the first episode. I found myself enjoying it a lot more and it definitely felt like a more solid episode. The minrcraft element was pretty amusing and the premise of the episode was pretty entertaining as well. It definitely isn't a brilliant episode, but it was very enjoyable nevertheless. 8/10

World War Zimmerman is easily one of the strongest episodes of season 17 with its completely over the top humour and a brilliant set-up. Once again this episode explores Cartman's arrogance and complete lack of empathy for the others around him. This ultimately leads to an episode full of great laughs and completely shocking moments as Cartman attempts to 'save the world'. 9/10

Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers was a pretty solid episode. Whilst I do find the Goth Kids to be less interesting (which isn't surprising) as some of the other characters, I did find this episode to be rather enjoyable. It was nowhere near as good as the last two episodes, but it did manage to be entertaining nevertheless. 7/10

Taming Strange is by far my least favourite episode of Season 17. The episode was rather boring and a 'teenage' Ike didn't really work.

This Season contains 10 episodes across 2 discs. All 10 episodes contain the always fun mini commentaries from Matt and Trey. The packaging matches season 1 - 16 (I love consistency like that!) but its a slimmer boxset due to being only 2 discs.

I think the show itself is past its best, but there are some excellent episodes here.
Taming Strange, Ginger Cow and in particular The Black Friday Trilogy have the show firing on all cylinders.
The rest of the episodes are better than alot in recent years but nothing that will pop up in any top ten list.
Goth Kids 3 lands a spot on a list though - one of the worst episodes in South Parks history and at least 6 years out of date.

This is overall a very solid season. I still think it relies too much on what was happening in the news the week each episode was written. Its lacking the huge belly laughs I think the show has had in the past, but maybe the shorter run has helped the show's quality, and The Black Friday Trilogy alone made this set worth owning.
