Simply brilliant. Watched the 23 episodes in four days. It completely blown my expectations away. Compared to the first few episodes of The Flash, the acting in this is top notch, you get attached to the main cast very quickly.

There are many twists and has a fine balance between action and talking/character development. The flashbacks to the Island are also a very fine touch! Eventually I got gripped on the flashbacks to find out and see what happens!

All in all, this series is worth watching, and if you are not a prime member, I suggest you buy it too if you like the DC comics and characters, and even if you haven't heard of the character in the comics, give it a try, you will most likely be pleased you did!

I was never sure whether to check out any of the superhero television shows; but with all the praise I've heard about the DC TV Series Arrow, I decided to give it a go. Thankfully, it definitely was worth it, as Arrow features very well developed characters and great storytelling.

Stephen Amell is great as Oliver Queen (aka The Arrow) who turns up in his home town after being presumed dead for 5 years following a boating accident and who vows to fullfill his lose father's wishes by taking out the criminals of the city. There are also many great supporting characters including his former girlfriend Laurel, best friend Tommy, mother Moira and sister Thea who each struggle with Oliver's return and change in behaviour after being stranded on island for years. The twists and turns are very interning and keeps the fewer hooked with every episode and by the end of the season can't wait until the next season.

Like a lot of people, I was more than sceptical about a TV series which set out to re-tell the story of one of the less famous members of the DC Universe and so I was not expecting much when I watched the Pilot episode. I could not have been more wrong. The acting is not great, but it is not terrible either - the storylines are engaging and the end of every episode leaves you with a startling revelation about one of the central characters.

Oliver Queen has returned to Starling City with the words of his father ringing in his ears "Right my Wrongs, make it better" and he sets out to do exactly that. First on his own, then with the help of his bodyguard and a savvy, yet slightly ditzy computer whizz working for his father's company. Most episodes link events in the now with recollections of the then, as Oliver remembers his time on the island, how he was rescued, betrayed, rescused again and eventually how he loses ones mentor only to gain two others.

We meet characters from both his past and present including Deathstroke, Deadshot, China White, the Dark Archer and towards the end a young, street-wise kid who will soon become the Arrow's sidekick.

The dynamic relationship between him and his mother, sister, girlfriend, best friend and other characters is kept ticking over nicely, all coming togather in the explosive season finale.

Personally, this is a series which if they don't spoil the mix of action and drama should go for several seasons - SEason Two is already set to inttroduce the characters of Barry Allen aka The Flash and Black Canary and others from the DC Universe are also set to make an appearance.

Cannot wait to see how things develop in Season Two ...

Initially i was very hesitant to even give it a chance. just coming off Smallville i felt a little betrayed. But i swallowed my pride scraps and settled in to watch it. I was immediately hooked and watched it religiously, A couple of episodes every night. The story was gripping with some great recognisable and endearing baddies thrown in (Malcolm Merlin) and a couple of let down characters (Deadshot. when are the going to portray him right on the screen?). All actors involved are believable and the discipline required to pull off Oliver Queens performance is commendable.
Gripping, dark, violent and emotional this blows Smallville away quite easily (and i really enjoyed Smallville).
The only downside for me is the some of the stories and sequences a more batman than they are green arrow, including some of the villains. there should be more arrogance and ego in the way green arrow is portrayed rather than disciplined martial arts master who never smiles (Batman). That said i found it refreshing for a DC vigilante to do some killing (A line Batman will never cross).
Aslong as they dont do something stupid like replace the Batman/Ras Al Ghul comic storyline with Green Arrow or even worse forcefully create a completely unbelievable and unprecedented love match between Oiver Queen and Felicity out of nowhere i will remain a fan for future series....

A decent first season for this superhero show. Strong characters and an interesting set up were complemented by an excellent back story told in an extended series of flashbacks. Where the show was not so strong was in it's fumbling attempts to integrate the arch for the primary villain. This was told in a somewhat bitty manner and often failed to lift those episodes from the monster of the week filler bits.

That said, Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Susan Thompson, Willa Holland, Manu Bennett and especially Emily Bett Rickards gave compelling performances. Manu Bennett has long been an extremely accomplish character actor in search of a starring vehicle, however Rickards is the true stand out set of performance of this show. It is a star making turn and if this actress does not go on to conquer Hollywood I will be astonished; her ability to move between funny, touching, strong and vulnerable, all the while giving us beautifully nuanced moments is breathtaking. Given her youth it is especially noteworthy, she is an astonishing talent.

I'm also glad to mention that while I felt I could only this first season three stars the second season is far stronger as this show found it's feet and I suspect that Arrow will be with us and giving fun excitement, laughs and heart break for a number of years.
