Really good spin on the usual modern Crime Drama. Motive follows Detective Angie Flynn, who specialises in finding killers based on their Motives. Unlike most crime shows though there is no suspense in who the murderer is, instead the show's opening always identifies the Killer and the Victim. The twist of the show is that Angie then needs to work out how the Killer and Victim link together, and what caused the murder. This involves lots of flashbacks as Angie questions people and explores the crime screen. The cast her is great, Kristin Lehman is brilliant as Angie and ex NCIS actress Lauren Holly also steals every scene she is in as medical examiner Betty. There are loads of guest stars in the first season too, including 'Ginger Snaps' Katherine Isabelle, '90210s' Dustin Milligan and 'The Last Ships' John Pyper Ferguson. Well worth a look if you're looking for a change from all the usual CSI/Criminal Mind crime dramas.

Took me a while to get into this, but it has the makings of a good series I'm sure. The characters are likeable and the acting is top notch . Filmed very darkly tho, kept thinking does no-one die on a sunny day. Looking forward to that next series for comparison.

By the numbers cop show. The premise of knowing who the murderer is first and then get the why/how.wherefore as the program progresses isn't quite true. They do try to leave a bit of doubt for a while.

The basic problem is that knowing the murderer turns a whodunnit into a bit of a meandering soap instead. Most of all though the main characters just aren't that engaging. It falls between a show that can engage because of the gritty or absorbing story and one that holds you because of the interaction of the main characters such as in 'Castle.'

Overall not a show to get too worked up about.

This is a really interesting series. Kind of like a jigsaw where you see the picture as it will be e.g. the killer and the victim and then they join together the pieces to understand how they got there.

The characterisation is good and they episodes evolve nicely so they format gets more polished with each episode as the writers and actors find their feet.

Its a series I hadn't heard of and was just in my Amazon recommendations. At 6.00 for series 1 I am starting to get the impression I've unearthed a real little gem here.
