"Beverly Hills Chihuahua" is one of the best kids films that I've seen for a long time.It tells the tale of a pampered female chihuahua who gets lost after being taken on an impromptu holiday to Mexico by her minder , after her owner jets off on business to Europe. The poor little canine ends up being captured by a dog fighting team and it looks like curtains after being paired up with a vicious Doberman in her first fight. A depressed , but kindly Alsatian comes to her rescue and then tries to help her find her way back to Beverly Hills. The animal characters are excellent; as well as the Alsatian and Doberman, we encounter other helpful dogs, a jewellery loving rat and iguana and an army of chihuahuas keen to prove that there is more to their breed than the traditional lapdog image would imply. This movie is filmed superbly, the animals trained magnificently and the script is witty throughout.

I know how much cinephiles loathe this motion picture and others of its genre, but, dudes and gals, loosen up! Sure, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua: [1]" is more than a little "sappy", but take some time out to be "sappy and happy" viewing this movie (available as viewed on a North American DVD edition, among several other DVD and Blu-Ray editions, as Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment 057850/02)! The adventures of these chihuahuas, other dogs, and assorted animals is a delight, especially for those who have a "tender spot" for the hounds! This movie never was meant to appeal to the viewer's sophistication. On the other hand, it is not any sort of "chihuahua exploitation film", either.

My favourite hounds in this California-Mexico romp are Papí, Chloé's ardent male admirer and very determinedly valiant chihuahua, and Delgado, the down-on-his-luck, butch German shepherd who rescues, and does various acts of kindness for, Chlo, even when he misinterprets the reasons for Chlo's second disappearance. Then, too, who cannot love the thronging hoard of chihauhuas among the ruins of an ancient indigenous culture? Seeing Chlo try to find the mighty voice of her "inner chihuahua" (as opposed to pampered pet squeaks and whimpering) with the aid of the leader of this pack of chihuahuas is very amusing; I wish that this bit of animal humour had been more extended!

This is a pack of fun, and not just for children! Have a barking good time watching this film, in the theatre or at home on the DVD or Blu-Ray player!

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a film for everyone, it's from the reliable and brilliant Disney team.I thoroughly recommend this as a light hearted and heart warming film. In its simple innocent way this film makes you laugh and nearly cry and gets you involved in caring about the characters. Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a respite from this horrible violent world we all live in. It is just adorable and worth escaping into a fantasy world of talking animals and fabulous scenery. Definately enjoy this no matter if you are only 5yrs old or 105 !!! it's for everyone who loves animals and a life we all could learn from. Try it for sure,

What a great family film! This film made me chuckle through out! So well made, and the animation is great. We are a family of five from the ages of 15 to 48, and we all loved it! This rates up there with Shrek! You really must see this!

First, my 3 year old sat still through the whole movie so her interest was captivated. OK some of the voices were annoying, predictable ending but I'm an adult this does not matter for a child!! it was great.

Jamie lee Curtis fitted the role perfectly, acting on the whole was good, and yes funny at times.

It was such a great movie, and, no it was not as tacky as i thought it would be, loved it, loved it.

A standard Disney format film, but this time it's cool to be Mexican. Kids under ten love it, boys as well as girls. As an adult I found it a very thin plot, but it is a kids film. The fast pace of story development and use of music which changed often kept my younger veiwers attention all the way through. Plus they came back to view it over, and over and over again..... ad nauseum. Which is just what you want to keep them all occupied. Therefore good value purchase, especially during the holidays!

If you've got kids and this movie is a gift on your list - be aware that the US ‘Disney’ BLU RAY of “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” is REGION-A LOCKED - so it WILL NOT PLAY on most UK Blu Ray players unless they're chipped to play 'all' regions (which the vast majority aren't). Don’t confuse BLU RAY players that have multi-region capability on the 'DVD' front – that won’t help.

Buy the standard UK issue and that way you won’t make any expensive mistakes…
