An entertaining Selena Gomez DVD, typical girly film lots of glitz and glam throughout. This would be a great gift idea, I purchased it for my Daughter and is always watched when her friends are around for "DVD Sofa Party".

Three young women from the United States visit Paris for the first time. There's a lot of tension between them, as one was foisted on the other two at the last moment... and when they arrive, they find dingy accommodation and a bus tour that leaves them no time to enjoy the landmarks or scenery.

By a series of unlikely events, they find themselves in Monte Carlo, in a luxurious suite, with one of the young women being mistaken for a look-alike snooty heiress who is booked for a charity ball and auction. It’s not surprising that the two are considered similar, since both are played by Selina Gomez. She manages both in a believable way, although I found her step-sister (Leighton Meester) more believable and natural. The third member of the party (Katie Cassidy) is mostly caricatured, although her character develops in the middle of the film, and she becomes more likeable.

The story is light-hearted - frankly silly at times - and relies on far too many coincidences. We didn’t laugh aloud, but there were places that were somewhat amusing. I don’t know that it was uplifting, exactly, but the ending was entirely satisfactory, if rather predictable. On the whole we liked it, and particularly appreciated the cameo role played by Catherine Tate, someone we had only previously seen as a companion in Doctor Who.

The rating is PG, which we felt was right. There are lots of short skirts, but no nudity; a fair amount of kissing, but nothing more. There’s some mild profanity, but it would be easy to miss; nothing major, and nothing gratuitous. I doubt if anyone under the age of about 11 or 12 would be interested in this anyway; but for young teenagers (probably girls) it makes a reasonably wholesome evening's viewing, and it's quite fun for a bit of mindless entertainment for jaded adults, too.

Three-and-a-half stars would be fairer.

Grace (Selena Gomez), a small town Texas girl has been saving up for 4 years through High School to go to Paris. She is excited about going with her friend Emma (Katie Cassidy) who seems to be a bit of a floozy- shoes she says, "If they ain't hurtin' they ain't helpin'. However Dad wants her to take along her step sister Meg (Leighton Meester)who is not exactly welcomed as she looks too much like Kristen Stewart with the blood drained out of her and acts about the same.

The three are in Paris having a miserable time because their tour is inanely rushing them. It isn't long before they become separated.

Grace is mistaken for Cordelia Winthrop Scott, British heiress and the 3 Cinderellas end up in Monte Carlo, dressed up and going to a ball. At this point the plot is pretty well established. The acting was less than expected, as was the script. Comedy is very light. This is perhaps a young teen female movie. Originally Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts were supposed to star in this film, but the producers wanted a younger cast...guess how that worked out?

No bad language, so sex, no nudity. Drop the girls off and go.

This is another run of the mill teen romance films. If anything I would say it would fare worse than other films in the genre. The film is very predictable and has been done before, it plays on the mistaken identity or doppelganger theme seen in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" or even the twin-plot seen in "The Parent Trap" for example. The main difference is that those films do it better and are much more entertaining.

This film also has a lot of regurgitated plot-points considering there is three romance stories. The only well-thought out story can be found in Meg's romance story who is also one of the stronger actresses in this film (played by Leighton Meester). Although people are saying or implying its a rom-com it simply is not, there's very little comedy in the film.

The not so good?
- Selena Gomez's attempt at an English accent
- The story is not the most original in the world. It reminded me a bit of "The Parent Trap" (with Lindsay Lohan) meets "What a Girl Wants" (with Amanda Bynes).

The good?
- some attractive actors in this film!
- it's fun-spirited in a girly kind of way
- it's feel-good
- it has a satisfying ending.

Overall?
I'd recommend this for fans of chick-flicks. It's not the best film ever, but it's a cute, light film. Perfect for a girls night in. It'll probably resonate most with a younger audience (like 20-something and below), but I watched this with my mum and she enjoyed it too!

This film is one of my favorite films ever! The cast is brilliant, including Selena Gomez! Its about a girl called Grace Bennett, her step sister Meg and her friend Emma, going to Paris where Grace gets mistaken for a famous person and gets whisked of to Monte Carlo where they get up to all sorts of adventures! 5 stars!
