If I could rate this higher I would.
Cat Chandler is a no-nonsense detective with a secret. Seems like the plot for a great show? You'd be 100% right about that, it is absolutely superb.
Vincent is the perfect combination of charming and dangerous with a best friend called J.T and a formidable enemy the tension is palpable.
Speaking of tension, the chemistry between these two is off the charts, the suspense and waiting for their relationship to become something, is so totally worth it! I hate it when T.V shows throw their characters together without even the smallest hint of an obstacle before they utter the L word. So Vincat's relationship is a refreshing break from the norm.
Another thing I love about the show, maybe even the most is the fact that Cat can hold her own in a fight, she's not a damsel and she sure as hell doesn't need a prince charming, even if he does look like Jay Ryan.
All in all, a great cast, great writing and stylistically beautiful.
If you love supernatural and drama and anything you fancy falling in love with some new characters? Watch this show, you won't be disappointed.

WARNING, if purchasing this box set, please set out at least a week of your life to watch from back to back twice over to even comprehend the awesomness!

I really enjoyed this show when it was shown last year on Watch & wanted to purchase it when it was released on DVD.
For some reason there was a significant delay with the release date for the UK, which was a shame, but it was well worth waiting for none the less.
A modern day take on the story which has Kristen Kreuk as 'the Beauty' & Jay Ryan as 'the Beast'. Catherine Chandler is a street wise cop with a tragic past & Vincent Keller is a soldier who was experimented on by a shady organisation called Muirfield who transformed him into a 'super soldier' with beast like qualities.
With Vincent on the run from Muirfield their paths first cross when Vincent saves Catherine from an attack during which her mother is killed. Nine years later Vincent saves her again & Catherine realises that it was him that was there on that fateful night when her life changed forever.
During the course of the series, they come together to try solve Catherine's mothers death & defeat Muirfield, along the way Vincent helps Catherine with her 9 - 5 job of being a cop & solving murders. Inevitably they fall in love but it is not a smooth path & plenty of situations arise which put them in jeopardy.
A great series, plenty of 'edge of your seat' drama with a gentle love story woven through the plot.
I am currently watching Season 2 & hope that I don't have to wait too long for it to released on DVD!

I'm a great fan of speculative fiction whether its Sci Fi or Fantasy or something else. And I'm also a fan of Kristin Kreuk who plays Catherine Chandler. I really loved her in the Smallville series. And yet I can't fully get behind BATB. The plot is good. The whole modern concept is good. But the script? There's quite a lot of long winded 'relationship analysis' that passes for dialogue between Chandler and the Beast. Apart from Chandler's father all the key characters seem to be in the twenties-thirties range. The plot is well crafted with the evil Corporation (Muirhead) always lurking in the background but they somehow fall short when it comes to the dialogue.

I came across this re-telling of the classic fairy tale by chance when I was bored snd channel hopping. Series was already on the 3rd episode of S1. I fell in love and have been hooked ever since! I looked for the episodes that I had missed and as they say, the rest is history.

Season 2 is currently on Watch channel on Sky.

The cast is amazing and the chemistry between the lead actors is out of this world. If you have not watched this series yet, you are missing out. Cannot recommend it enough.

I loved the original series, and thought lets try it, and thanks to the handsome lead role of Jay Ryan as the beast, and the beautiful Kristen Kreuk as the heroine, this is the story of a damaged fugitive made a beast by a secret genetic engineering experiment that went wrong. He is in hiding from those who want the experiment to disappear, trying to find a way to control the beast within, and she is the cop who finds him watching her from the shadows protecting her, drawn to her by a shared mysterious past. The story unashamedly revolves around their relationship,a slow burning growing love for each other, the secrets they both keep from each other and the rest of the world. It will never win awards, and it is as sweet as a dollop of syrup, and it is pure girlie romantic fun, a chance for us girls and some boys to be lost in a slushy romantic haze. Its like slouching on a sofa with a big bar of chocolate, and a tall glass of wine, pure decadence, tosh yes, but nonetheless still very enjoyable!
