My daughter nagged me to death to watch this movie and I'm so glad she did. I howled with laughter from beginning to end just like she knew I would. It gets you right from the outset. The writing is intelligent and the acting (particularly Ryan Reynolds) is outstanding. So many good bits but the Ice Hockey game, the stun gun, the falling Santa and 'What're you thinking?' are unforgettable cinematic moments. I even used to do the stringy gob thing on my little brother too! Tip is to eat an apple first. Infinitely more than a chick flick, this is a movie about self fulfillment. Just great.

Brilliant! Really good movie with a fun storyline and terrific actors. Ryan and Anna really make this movie. Anna is hilarious!! And Ryan as his teen years and throughout has you laughing and feeling for his character. Absolutely outstanding acting, really makes the movie! Whoever done the casting has done a superb job. I have always loved Anna Faris and have to say, Ryan Reynolds has really grown on me even more with this performance. Well done.
Definitely worth the watch.

this is an amazing film which is pure comedy with a great plot! Its extremely funny and its a unique film which pulls off all its jokes - not like some rom coms when the jokes just aren't funny! Theres some amazing characters in the film which all work together really well. If your into comedies or not, i reccommend that you watch this film, you'll be laughing all the way through!

I never expected going to this movie, to be laughing so bad until my face hurt. This is NOT a silly / goofy romantic comedy, but a detailed and painfully funny process of our hero being reduced to nothing, while trying to get his old flame to love him back.
Unlike "There's Something About Marry" (which obviously was a big influance), there are no bad-taste jokes here, since it's a non cursing movie (PG13). Instead, you have priceless moments with people beating eachother up, falling, destroying everything around - and that is funny as heck!

When I first saw this film advertised I immediately thought that it would be really cheesy but my boyfriend wanted it so I decided to give it a go. I can safely say that I was pleasantly suprised by the film. It was hilarious. Some of the humour was slighty cheap but overall I loved it and it had me in stitches of laugher. If you've seen any of the Scary Movie films or Date movie or even films like american pie and have enjoyed them then I think that you will enjoy this because its the same sort of humour. Hope this helps!

Chris Brander (Reynolds) returns home to find he is still in the friend zone with his high school crush Jamie Palamino (Smart).

The romantic comedy genre is one of the most tackled genres in cinema today and so you may wonder, what is the difference between this and every other romance?

If we look back at the most successful romances we'll see that When Harry Met Sally stole the headlines for it's depiction of the relationship between men and women, The Notebook (referenced here) looked at the big picture of love with a mental health defect and Eyes Wide Shut looked at how betrayal and lust can affect marriages.

Just Friends takes a look at the common concept known as `the friend zone' and how this can affect your outcome on life. We see central character Chris take it to heart when he is permanently put into the friend zone by Jamie in the opening sequence and what follows is a smart and exceptionally funny look at the interaction between the pair and interfering parties at the social implementation.

Years after college we see Chris has lost all his weight and can now play any game he wants with any woman he wants but when he is back in his home town with Jamie the odds and rules are thrown out of proportion and he finds he can't be himself, and right there we have a recipe for good fun and good laughs. This is perfect comic realism.

In the modern era we find we can't commit and are always in these `zones' and `stages' and are forever being hampered by them and seeing the funny comedy and light heartedness helps this be an exceptionally light and fun film.

Ryan Reynolds brings his suave persona onscreen with some wonderful physical comedy, particularly with his onscreen brother Chris Marquette.

I love this film. I think this has to be one of the funniest films i have ever seen, and yet it is relatively unknown. honestly buy this film you will not regret it. I had my friend over and they all didn't want to watch it because they had never heard of it, luckily I managed to convince them and they were in stitches. Also it has really good music in it.
