I've been a fan of Haven's quirky style from the beginning. Strong leads, small town intrigue and an ongoing mystery - what's not to like?
However, there was always a sense (to me at least) that the show hadn't quite fulfilled it's potential with some weak episodes and the occasional ropey guest performance.

I'm pleased to say that Season 3 has well and truly changed that. Strong from the beginning and rounding off with a brilliant ending that turned the show on it's head and left me breathless, wondering how they can follow that in season 4. Well done to the cast and creators, writers and production team!

Roll on Autumn when Haven returns...

"What the hell's happening here?" Well might FBI's Audrey ask. There is no letting up of weirdness in the coastal resort of Haven, undertakers kept very busy indeed. "The Troubles" persist, they reactivated every twenty seven years by meteor storms, sacrifices needed if they are to cease.

The strong third season comprises more highly bizarre happenings, plus substantial ongoing revelations which help explain much that previously puzzled. At last more will be learned about The Colorado Kid (title of the Stephen King novel which inspired the series). Who was he? Who were his father and mother? Prepare for surprises!

It is best not to question too closely some of the more outrageous happenings, especially that skinwalker storyline. Just sit back and enjoy as Audrey, Nathan and Duke (their chemistry most evident) strive to cope with the latest challenges to come their way. Increasingly intriguing are the two rather creepy old brothers who run the local newspaper, it clearly never short of sensational headlines. Are they what they seem? In fact, can anybody be trusted - including Audrey herself?

13 episodes. Commentaries. Lots of extras, including surprises about the Hallowe'en Haunted House episode. Creators and cast entertainingly answer questions, often self-mocking and teasing colleagues (Eric Balfour particularly having fun).

The "WOW!" finale surely seems the end of it all. Nevertheless another season is on its way, the creators needing to be most inventive if it is not to prove an anti-climax. Can this prove their biggest challenge of all?

Those so inclined can find much to mock. Who cares? They are missing the point. Unashamedly HAVEN represents a guilty pleasure. Savour it as such, as so many already do.

I found Haven through an online friend and fell in love with it. This DVD set has a nice bunch of extras and is well worth the money.

If you are at all into mysteries and supernatural things, but want something a little less adult than say Supernatural, this is for you. There is a great 'King-ian' atmosphere and the landscape of New England (née Canada…) is astounding. Give Haven a chance, watch S1E1-5, and you'll be a fan forever!

Haven simply gets better. The first season was a little slow and hard to get into but its got better and better. I'm now in the third season and the shift from the events in Haven to the connection between the three main characters was an excellent idea. It makes the show more personal and shows wonderful relationships forming.

With no adult language it is a bit un realistic but still a captivating enough series. Some sci fi,some horror, some super natural a bit of everything really.Story lines that follow through as well as episode only stories makes it stand out and is far better than anything similar on any of the 5 UK channels.

Haven has become one of my favorite things to watch. I wasn't sure about it when I watched the first season but it is definitely worth sticking to as the characters and plot develops. If you are a sci fi / fantasy fan then this is one to watch.
