When they announced they were making a third series, lots of people worried that it wouldn't be as good as the first two. In actual fact it's BETTER!

Series three sees all of the characters we love return. Some of the situations are a little bit too contrived (e.g. Pete and Dawn's marriage renewal) but it doesn't matter when the comedy is this good. Series three hits a lovely balance between touching and darkly funny and there are so many memorable moments here: Smithy buying a suit, Bryn out on the town, Stacey facing down her nemesis in the local chemist and Gavin trying to buy Nessa a drink on the beach. The final episode is wonderful: amazing acting from James Corden and a believeable ending that doesn't go over the top.

In a word... immense! If you're a fan of the first two you won't be disappointed here.

A lot of people seem to be complaining that this series has been released on DVD before it had finished its broadcast run on BBC1. Why worry? I wish every series followed suit so you could watch them at your leisure and not worry about programming the video...or, worse still, staying in. I'm sure Smithy would approve, especially as there are now so many foam parties to go to in Basildon. Hats off to this series for blazing some kind of trail - long may it continue!

As for the content, there is some great stuff here for all fans of the series. The guests at the wedding in the final episode are inspired (and I bet they didn't need that much persuading, given the popularity of this show) while any sentimental moments are always undercut by the quirky comedy (in addition to the Wests and the Shipmans, we now discover that neighbour Peter's surname is Sutcliffe!), keeping it all as lovable and as addictive as ever. Nothing will disappoint. In fact, Barry Island in summer looks superb -what a contrast to how it looks in the winter rain!

I would say more, but some of you are still probably watching it on telly, so I won't spoil it for you!

The whole 'Gavin & Stacey' thing is a phenomenon. It probably won't be seen again for many years in any medium. It's a bit like alchemy, with due respect to Mr. Corden & Ms. Jones. Bring together some normally inert (in this instance read 'somewhat obscure and unproven') elements; mix them in the right environment and you produce gold! The writing is spectacular - perfectly pitched and usually so understated that you can believe you were the only one that saw something funny (except for the other 20 million or so!) The acting benefits from the presence of the immense capabilities and experience of the likes of Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman, and all of the cast rise to that level. It was never going to be easy to a) follow on from the success of the first two series and the special, and b) to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion since this really was the last time. It is a DVD essential since it bears watching again, and again etc. Oh, and I do have a crush on Nessa, but then who doesn't?

Series 3 did not disappoint at all - brilliant polished writing and wonderful performances from the whole cast. Great idea to move the plot to Barry.

I purchased this as a Christmas present for my mum who, like the rest of the family, are die hard Gavin and Stacey fans, She absolutley loved it and even more so as she wasn't aware you could get it on DVD yet.

Would highly recommend for any Gavin and Stacey fans, the series stays true to form, and like always leaves you wanting more, shame the series is now finished.

3rd series of this comedy classic, unfortunatly the last series to be made of gavin and stacey. i'll definitely miss it! This series has got totally the same quality as 1 & 2, and i have not met a single person who hasnt laughrd at it. i highly recomend that you buy this, and all previous G&S dvds. you wont regret them :)

Series 3 seems to be the final ever series but i hope it isnt, maybe thats just greedy but it pains me to think that there will be no more of the subtle genius that is gavin and stacey.
It seems to me that when i ask around that no one likes this series and some havent even heard of it,i guess,to be fair, just a month ago i didnt have a notion about this and now im singing its praise from the proverbial rooftops.
Series 3 is another class series, perhaps it isnt as classy as the first two series but this is still brilliant stuff, yet again im drawn to the brilliant, cautious, level headed writing which is hard to explain but its one of the reasons why watching this show is so addictive and essential.
This series is very eventful and filled with laughs and poignant moments that emphasise one again that this show isnt a straight forward comedy, the characters again flesh out in various ways and yet again the main stars are not gavin and stacey, thats how great this show is.This is a fine purchase and one you wont regret.

I bought this series for someone as a christmas present. He has seen the series on t.v but wanted the dvd as he enjoyed it so much. He thinks the dvd was great and enjoyed the extras. His only complaint is that he wishes there were more episodes! His favbourite episode was the one where Bryn has a night out with the boys!
