Just discovered this gem of a comedy the other week on BBC.
Can't understand how this beautifully scripted and acted comedy has not been given more publicity.
The kids are absolutely brilliant and natural.
So glad it is available on DVD as I wasn't even aware of it first time around.

I originally watched this when it was first out on the BBC & thought it was the funniest comedy for a very long time. I am now watching the second series & can't wait for that to be available on DVD so that I can watch it at will.
When you realise that much of this series is improvised, it just makes it all the more impressive, especially the children. However the acting from all the cast is superb. Let's hope there is a 3rd & 4th series.

This is a true gem in the crown of British comedy.
Whether you are a parent, a spouse, or neither, this will give you plenty to laugh about. The writing is just perfect, and the characters are so true to life. The children are the real stars of the show though.

Watch this - you're missing a treat!

I caught a re-run of this on TV only a couple of weeks ago completely by chance having never heard of this series before. What can I say apart from this is just jaw droppingly brilliant! The children are astonishing, the adult leads are perfectly underplayed, the family conversations are so true to life (any family is bound to recognise most of these) that I end up squirming with recognition.... If you don't have a young family, this is by far the most realistic depiction of how it actually is. If you DO have a young family..you'll be laughing, and crying with laughter, at the same time. Easily the best sitcom on UK TV for ages.

Was just trying to remember back to when I laughed so much at a 30 minute television comedy. It was possibly 'Fawlty Towers'! ... Is that 30 odd years ago? Brilliant - dont miss it, and get to see both series of course ! Any more like this and people will start watching TV again!

Well... what can I say? Outnumbered is absolutely fantastic. It is a hilarious sitcom which is completely devoid of that forced laughter and atmosphere that you find in other comedy programmes of its genre. Due to the semi-improvisation it has a very 'real' feel to it, providing loads of laughs -mainly due to the faboulous child actors. As well as being funny, it also has a sensitive side which tackles very real issues in family life, occasionally being rather bittersweet.
I would highly reccomend you buy this DVD - no doubt you will sympathise with the situations the fab characters find themselves in! The seconds series is equally fantastic - I will definitely be buying it when it's available!

A brilliant look at the ups and downs of contemporary family life. Outnumbered shows that there is still life in modern situation comedy. Drawing on a mix of script and improvisation, anyone who's tried to deal with the daily battles of balancing job, children and extended family, will identify with the characters played brilliantly by Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner.

Struggling valiantly to cope with the demands of their 3 children, and trying to remain p.c whilst answering their often difficult questions, proves an absolute delight. The children too are all wonderful in their respective roles, and you'll laugh from begining to end watching this highly innovative 'grown up'comedy.

This is wonderful British comedy. Not the usual stuff with older British actors ( not that they're not funny also) but a young couple and their three kids. I understand how the adult actors can be excellent at acting and be funny, but how do they get those kids to be so funny? The children are unbelievable and will make you laugh out loud. Don't miss this. I bought it from Amazon UK for use here in the US. Too bad it had region encoding. I cannot imagine why it does not have universal region encoding. Aside from that, it's great.
