This is one of the best comedies around and this season is one of the best season's. It has probably one the best ever The Office episodes ever, both US and UK versions included, where Michael, Dwight and Jim get caught spying on another branch, in costumes consisting of warehouse uniforms and moustaches. Absolutely hilarious!
I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good comedy and to anyone who has seen the UK version, its really worth giving the US version a go!

I have been a huge fan of THE OFFICE ever since its first season. And, up to and including the very last episode, I am glad I did. The Series was original in its premise and execution, the pseudo-documentary format opening up numerous previously little explored avenues of storytelling. And it was great fun to watch.

The setting (the office of a small branch of paper-selling company) and the stories (everyday life of the people found working in such a low-prospects jobs) seem mundane at first. And there lies the magic of the creators. For (if the endless strings of CSIs are any indication) it not hard to create good TV with car chases, gadgets and explosions. It is extremely hard to make excellent TV with only the everyday grind to work with. It seems effortless only because they made it look easy.

The brief one-way interviews each character had with the camera functioned as either prefatory summaries of stories about to unfold (building up the anticipation) or as instances of pushing back, yet never breaking, the forth wall, and, thus, making the viewing experience more personal and involving. All without the show ever loosing its step.

Producing, directing and writing will only get you so far without the right cast. And THE OFFICE enjoyed such stellar cast. Steve Carell may have risked getting typecast by creating the unforgettable character of Michael Scott but it was worth it. Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) served first as the precarious love interest and then as the familiar friends you care about and the rest of the cast was one successful pick after another.

I was left waiting for this one for almost two and a half years but finally season four of the brilliant American adaptation of The Office is here at last, in superior PAL format without the need for importing a Dutch copy! Why it took so long, I've no idea and hopefully seasons five, six and beyond won't take as long to be released.

Sadly, there's fewer episodes that usual here thanks to the 2007 writer's strike but they make up with five double episodes. Season four does have one of the weakest episodes of the entire run (the Steve Carrell-penned "Survivor Man") but sucky Office episodes are like sucky pizza - even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.

Amongst the classics are Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race For The Cure from "Fun Run", Michael, Dwight and a reluctant Jim declaring war on ex-Scranton employee Karen Fillipelli's Dunder Mifflin Utica branch ("Branch Wars"), Michael proving where his loyalties lie ("The Deposition"), the astonishing transformation of Ryan ("Dunder Mifflin Infinity", "Night Out", "Goodbye, Toby"), Michael's financial problems and stint at a call centre ("Money"), Pam's return to her high school ("Job Fair"), Michael's torrid, non-existent relationship with a dead woman he sees in a catalogue ("Chair Model"), the ongoing love triangle between Dwight, Angela and Andy ("Dinner Party", "Did I Stutter?", "Goodbye, Toby"), and the arrival of the lovely Holly Flax and departure of Michael's despised Toby Flenderson ("Goodbye, Toby").

However, the highlight of the season has to be the all-time classic episode "Dinner Party".

With The Office now on its sixth season it is hard to believe that season 4 is only just coming out in the UK, however it is well worth the wait. Yes now the Jim/Pam relationship has developed the dynamics between the two characters have changed slightly, but the whole set-up still remains desperately funny.

Michael kidnaps a pizza delivery boy, Dwight battles with a computer and Jim continues to terrorise them both (but especially Dwight). Though the season is relatively short due to the Writer's Strike, it remains as hilarious, uncomfortable and charming as ever.

Just got this from the US & am currently up to episode 4. It's as fab as ever. More emphasis on character development rather than themed episodes and this works very well. More double-length episodes too.
The best comedy writing on TV currently.
