Hustle is a truly brilliant piece of british drama. The cast are all fantatstic is there roles, acting a very well writen script. The only problem with the DVD set is the episodes have been cut by about six minitues per episode. I cannot see why this has been done. Apart from that little gripe and the fact the DVD does not contain many extras, just one documentary split over the two DVD's, this is well worth the money.

Preceding the soon to be aired second series, the synopsis hardly does this one justice. This DVD is of the first stunning series of 'Hustle' from the BBC. Once again the BBC shows it can screen some pretty impressive stuff, with the twists and turns, the focus on detail and plot development. The BBC creates a group of characters, that by today's standards are some of the most hated people in society, and shows a 'human' side, unlike anything ever shown before, using ideas like, 'Never Cheat an Honest Man'.
The characters are well chosen, and the on-screen chemistry is over-flowing. Adrian Lester plays Michael Stones, GBH convicted leader of the group of long and short con-artists. Marc Warren (a.k.a Pvt. Blithe - 'Band of Brothers') once again, lives up to his standard, and plays convincingly, the over-eager, full-of-himself Danny Blue. Each wonderfully crafted episode will keep you guessing right up until the end. A top quality series. One thing you wont be is conned if you buy this, it will remain your most prized investment for many a year.

A really excellent series, shown by the fact it is planning a 3rd series. The story lines, and casting and superb stylishness of tehe series makes it completely unique, even from the films it is loosley inspired from. It is a huge shame that something so superbly stylish, seems a little like it came off the editing table, half finished and in some places over-cut. Now I can understand there maybe reasons for doing this for the foriegn regions, but to do it to the region that it is based in, and that most people watched it is ........... well quite frankly, criminal. Despite this, the series is so good Its definatly worth the money, if your tired of the same usual things, then this is the series for you.

Hustle Season 1 was a great series and the episodes shown on TV prompted me to buy this DVD. On the whole its a good DVD with some good extras such as interviews with the cast etc. and is well worth buying if you are a fan of the show. The only downside is that the episodes have been slightly shortrned but no key scenes are missed so this is not too much of a problem.

BEWARE! The con is indeed on!! Each episode has been cut by approximately 7 minutes. Over the course of the 6 episodes that amounts to 42 minutes which isn't far off the length of one of these episodes.
Apparently these DVDs were intended for the foreign market due to the placement of advertisements. Somehow they made it onto the region 2 prints. It wouldn't be so bad for most other shows but with Hustle you really do need to watch every second of every episode to enjoy it at it's best. A shame really.
Hold onto your money until it's either reissued or wait until the second season when they will no doubt release a box set with both together. This is a con that would even make Mickey proud!

Hustle opens with Mickey returning from doing 2 years in the slammer. He then puts together a team of grifters to work the long con. Each one of the team of course supplies their own talents. There's a roper, inside man, fixer, baiter and floater. So does the series work? oh yes. This is cracking entertainment. If your looking for intelligently written, expertly casted and superbly directed and shot entertainment look no further. Hustle had me captiveated since episode one and I'm on tenderhooks for the forthcomming third series. All in all I would recommend this to anyone who would likes their tales with a twist. A sure fire 5 out of 5.

Don't get me wrong with the 3 stars, the series is excellent from start to finish. The problem I have is that the episodes have been cut to 52 minutes, about 6 minutes shorter than they were when the originally aired. This is a definite disappointment and I can't understand why the Region 2 DVD has this.
I still recommend you buy this DVD but be cautious because a uncut DVD may be released soon.
