Two polar opposite sisters (the whore and the spinster) suddenly find themselves poor upon the death of their father. They discover they have a brother who takes 1/3. They move from Beverly Hills to East LA to live with their estranged aunt. The two sisters were excellently portrayed by Camille Bell and Alexa Vega who managed to shine through a predictable script with a weak plot and lack of character building. While attempting to break with the negative stereotypes of Latino-Americans it reenforces others.

The movie carries a message about the importance of family and is the perfect film for the teenage drama queen in your life. It might be fairer to the movie and Jane Austin to claim the film was inspired by her book rather than being based on it.

PARENTAL GUIDE: No nudity. No sex, although it shows Alexa waking up in bed with a man, no f-bombs.

If you're a fan of this film and live in the UK or Europe - there's a problem.

As of April 2014 the American-Only release of "From Prada To Nada" on Lionsgate is REGION A LOCKED. So it won't play on our machines unless they're chipped to be 'all regions' (which few are).

I'm afraid until such time as someone sees fit to release it on our side of the pond (Region B) - this is yet another movie denied us by the silly restrictions of Region Coding...

This is not the best movie ever, but it is good fun nevertheless. It is a very peculiar adaptation of Sense & Sensibility, the beloved novel by Jane Austen. That is why I bought it, as I do not mind watching versions of Austen's novels.
It is not as good as the Emma Thompson movie or the BBC series but it is ok.
The sisters here are rich girls, one much more spoiled than the other. Their father died and her secret step-brother and his horrible wife kicked them out of their life of luxury. They have no other choice but to go live with their aunt in a Hispanic hood full of stereotype characters.
The script could be better and there are some characters that required a bit more of screen time. Some plots go by so fast they don't make too much sense and the whole Edward part of the story was way to unrealistic.
The sisters are ok, I liked the spoiled one better, her story makes more sense, the other is way too perfect to be real.
It is an ok movie for a night with friends or your sisters and some popcorn or Mexican food.

I threw this one at random - as I often do when perusing the Prime catalog.
Looking at the cover and the blurb and the cast, I totally expected another one of those films where a couple of ditzy girls loose their money, have to work and then poof - their fairy godmother grants them back their money... or something to that effect.
Expected pretty people and a tired plot.

But it's more than that.
It's pretty good.

There's lessons in things like, not being ashamed of your culture and the fear of commitment. Shallow versus what really matters.
Family, loyalty, and so much more.
I ended up getting into it and most things do not hold my attention these days.

I like it, I'd recommend it and I'll probably watch it again.

Watched via my amazon.com Prime account.

Good typical rom com and chick flick film which can be watched many times, I felt the ending and thought the scenes were predictable though

A fun and flighty movie, seen a million times but you know every time you hear the same story line you have to watch because you know it will be just as frivolous and full of fun as the rest of them! Good buy, well worth a watch, lose yourself in a silly movie for a couple of hours.

This is great if you enjoy a light-hearted, girly film. It isn't too deep, but is quite funny and at times, touching. It isn't going to be for everyone and it certainly isn't going to win any awards, but if you are into this type of film I think you'll enjoy it.
