Now don't laugh. We don't make these names up. From the people who brought you the hilarious yet strangely lifelike Cardboard Classics iPod Boombox comes this, the Cardboard Classics Cat Playhouse Fire Engine. And, as the name ever-so-generously suggests, it is indeed a retro-look cardboard fire engine that your cat may wish to use as a playhouse. A mental leap is required here, but please do bear with us. We can all, I think, agree that cats love to play. Tick. And that cats love to climb and explore. Tick. However, quite why a cat is going to be attracted to a fire engine is beyond us. Unless, of course, it just sees a red (or grey) thing with holes in and goes nuts in celebration at that simple thought. Which is very possible. That behavioural argument duly settled, we can turn our attention to more practical matters. The fire engine in question arrives flat-packed and with a single pop and some digital dexterity, turns itself into a feline den in a matter of seconds. It is suited to smaller, younger and more agile cats, and serves brilliantly as a place to hide. And having bench tested it here at gadgetshop HQ using our colleague Simon's pet iguana, we can declare it a clear and unambiguous success. It is, of course, bonkers. But don't let that stop you, your cat, or, for that matter, your iguana. Meeaow.
