4.0 out of 5 stars BEST FIGHTER ON WII?, 2 Feb 2010
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I pre-ordered this game a few months ago and I can tell you that I am not disappointed. It's one of the Wii's secret weapons.

The game has amazing gameplay it's the best fighting game on the Wii, yes its not Marvel vs. Capcom 2 as some fans have proclaimed but , to be honest this game has grown on me more then that dated game.

Online mode is superb, the only problem I have with it is that firstly it doesn't count a win in battle straight away as soon as you defeat your opponent and secondly if connection is lost or your opponent turns his Wii off it ruins your own overall score.

One more thing that I must say is the graphics are amazing, some people are saying it will benefit more on PS3 or Xbox, that is not true. Not only was this game optimised for the wii but the only thing that will benefit this game graphically if it came to ps3 or Xbox is HD. Take for instance Street fighter 4 which looks very similar to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

2.0 out of 5 stars Capcom's sad fall from grace, 4 Feb 2010
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Years ago capcom were untouchable for fighting games, i can remember wasting pounds in arcades and purchasing all the home versions, from street fighter to marvel etc capcom were brilliant.
Unfortunately since the decline of the arcade in my opinion they have seriously fallen from grace, with the poor and over hyped street fighter 4 (a game which was totally un balanced and slow (because of it using 3d esq graphics) and the reason why they are releasing super street fighter 4, which puts these problems right, although i wont open that can of worms and stick with this, this is another example of how not to make a beat em up.
First of all it looks and feels like street fighter 4, to play it's slow and cumbersome, why no hand drawn 2d sprites?, and to be honest it doesn't have enough characters to use.
The characters on offer will not be familiar with most people but i cannot understand the inclusion of certain one's, roll for instance from mega man is a crazy choice, ok i can understand it if you have loads to choose from but with only 20 or so it seems a bit of an oversight, although it's nice to see alex from sf3 albeit poorly animated and the fact he seems to have turned japanese with a weird accent!
Artwork is very very reminiscent of snk, in fact it looks more that way than the usual capcom artwork, Throw in the fact that the game has a neo geo style control method using multiple attacks on single buttons instead of the usual six button layout and it seems they are trying to make it an snk game but it doesn't reach that high standard, gameplay is very unbalanced despite the fact in the intro movie it says it's perfectly balanced, plus you find yourself a good 90% of the time fighting in the air as the ai cannot stay on the ground for more than 5 seconds, and while the previous vs games did have fighting in the air it wasn't this much.
In many ways this feels like a progression from capcom fighting jam (remember that one?) and apart from the graphics this feels like that, and that game didn't fare that well either and so for me anyway this isn't restoring my faith in the company.
As far as comparing this to marvel vs capcom 2, or even the original this isn't true as this is nowhere close to that in fact it's nowhere close to any top beat em up, or should i say it's not up to the usual standards of the company.
As for the argument about this being a wii exclusive to be honest it wouldn't matter if this was released on ps3 or xbox it would still feel slow and cluttered, plus brighter graphics wouldn't make any difference.
Take for instance the latest king of fighters XII, at one time capcom's big rival, this game is how it should be done huge 2d hand drawn sprites with amazing gameplay to boot this is the sort of thing it should be!
So another missed opportunity again for the once mighty fighting game kings,it breaks my heart but this is just painful, and makes me yearn for a return to former glories. i gave it 2 stars because the end boss is pretty good, it's a 3 tier boss meaning you gotta win 3 times and it's basically a giant fighting ball which was quite cool, but having said that the end boss on marvel vs capcom 2 was 3 tier as well so even though it was the best thing about this game it's nothing new nor exciting.
Great idea to bring the vs games back but as with many game franchise's, they are not as good as they used to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best fighter on the Wii - Easily, 2 Feb 2010
By Minto1981 (Durham, England) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Quite simply put this is the best fighter on the Wii (yes, including Smash Bros) and is just as good as the brilliant Street Fighter IV currently available on 360 and PS3. If you grew up with the World Warriors like myself you will feel right at home here even if the Tatsunoko charachters are unfamiliar to you. However if you are new to the series, or new to fighting games in general the simple control system will ease you into the action.

A must buy if you own a Wii.
